"When money is easy to make, society begins to break." -The Tuttle Twins: #Bitcoin and the Beast

Gather your children, or send this to someone who has children, and watch this episode of the Tuttle Twins. It's the easiest orange pill opportunity ever.

I wouldn't say they're the same thing, but gold isn't "way better" than fiat, either.

Fiat is the inevitable result of gold being used by a society that's growing in number, land area, and technology. Those who want us to return to a gold standard are as delusional (at best) as those who want to stop "climate change": The end goal for both groups is the permanent limitation or elimination of all humanity, they're just coming at it from opposing sides of the political aisle.

So they're connected -- gold unavoidably led to fiat -- but they're not the same.

It does that, and more. #Bitcoin turns greed into benevolence, responsibility, faith, hope, and love. It's the fulcrum that turns the downward forces of greed and selfishness into the upward forces of generosity and mutual trust.

GM.

Imagine being on the Titanic, and knowing exactly how the iceberg damaged it, when everyone else thinks the ship is "unsinkable", and realizing you have 2 hours and 40 minutes before it's all under water.

Imagine understanding geology and fault lines, when everyone else thinks it's a boring subject, and realizing your home town is built directly on top of one of the worst fault lines in the world.

Imagine being familiar with tsunamis, and seeing the ocean water suddenly recede, when everyone else thinks they simply have a much larger beach to play on now, with an amazing variety of new shells to collect.

As Bitcoiners, we understand politics, economics, and game theory, when everyone else couldn't care less about such "controversial", "boring", and "nerdy" subjects. But are we warning those around us with the same level of urgency as we would on a sinking ship, or before an impending earthquake, or leading up to a tsunami?

Something much worse than any of those is coming, and if you're not already warning everyone you can, then perhaps now is a good time to start.

I finally finished listening to an audiobook of The Mandibles, by Lionel Shriver, and while I absolutely don't recommend the book if you're looking for entertaining fiction (and especially if you're squeamish about the profanity printer going brrr), it is nevertheless one of the best #Bitcoin books out there (even though it only mentions Bitcoin by name once in passing 😆), and should be required reading for any serious Bitcoiner.

And then be sure to listen to this interview with the author on Citadel Dispatch: https://fountain.fm/episode/13690858881

A close friend of mine, Tony, is having some financial trouble, and now his son's truck needs repairs. Would you please consider donating a little to help him out? Also, I will send Tony all the sats that this post receives from Zaps. He's not on nostr because he's intimidated by the tech, but he's a hardcore Bitcoin maximalist, who got in when #Bitcoin was around $60K, so the bear market was really hard for him. So please consider lending him a hand; I know that Tony will pay it forward.

Suddenly, I'm not feeling as bad for having to miss the conference.

A new take on an old meme.

You too? 🤩

We just got our first one today! 🍓

My oldest son just said that he wants to go on a 3-day-long, 17-mile hike: 5 miles the first day, 7 miles the next day, and 5 miles the third day.

That way, it'll be a hike-u.

My almost-16-year-old son is showing me up in the "Dad Joke" department! 😆

As of today, I've been working as #[0]'s Community Manager for exactly 1 year. For almost 7 years before that, I longed to work in the #Bitcoin space, and taught myself everything I could through websites, podcasts, and audiobooks (which were really useful while I was a FedEx delivery driver for over 4 years). Even when I was unemployed and living off my savings, I used my extra time to start a Bitcoin meetup, create Bitcoin educational content, and volunteer for NOAH at the Bitcoin 2022 Miami Conference.

Thank you, #[1], for extending the invitation for me in Miami to join up with a Bitcoin company. Like with Bitcoin's price, working at NOAH has come with its own ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade the past year for the world.

💩coinery is just one symptom of a greater underlying mental disorder: high time preference.

#[2] will be having a meetup on Saturday May 20th, from 2-4PM at the Moxy hotel, located at 1220 King Street, in Chattanooga, TN.

Those of us who prefer to hodl our sats instead of buying conference tickets will be there! 😆

What do you think those "other things" were? 🤔
