Something happened to me today that has never happened before. Hell, I've never even heard of this happening.

On Friday I backed into a car and our bumpers scraped. Negligible damage as it was plastic on plastic at sub 1 MPH speed. I did the right thing and left a note on the car with my phone number. The guy calls and says, "the damage is so negligible that I don't think it's something to get the insurance companies involved with. How about $100 in cash and you sign these release forms?"

This is the whole reason I have auto insurance. This feels a lot like extortion. No way I'm signing anything so I just made the claim with my insurance company.

Has anyone ever heard of this? Seems sketchy af to me.

I’ve met Peter Schiff in person a few times.

He is super chill, friendly, usually sun-tanned on vacation with chad vibes, etc. He’s trolling us.

He might be our industry’s most prolific troll, but ultimately he is just that: consciously trolling us.

His only argument is that bitcoin has no “intrinsic value” while meanwhile I’m active in two continents and am thankful that my multi-signature money isn’t attached to either one of them like gold would be. He has no answer for this. Bitcoin is the best at what gold can’t do: be globally accessible.

He’s famous from two decades ago, is rich and happy, and wants to sell gold. He is closed to Bitcoin intellectually but is happy to engage with bitcoiners that give him marketing. He’s a Puerto Rico chad. That’s who bitcoiners debate against; someone who is going for marketing and is happy for the engagement.

American presidential terms are 4 years and now we're spending 2 of those years worrying about the next election.

During those 2 years we spend $17 billion and drive half the country into frothing madness, but thanks to the electoral college it always comes down to the same 50,000 voters in the same three states.

Absolutely! Trump won't save anyone but based on his past administration he will very likely leave us alone. #Bitcoin was largely left alone to flourish between 2016-2020. Would Bitcoin look the same today if Hillary won the 2016 election?

I don't have to simp for Trump, donate money to him, or campaign for him. Taking 5 minutes to vote for him and maybe he will #FreeRoss is pretty low effort. If he lied about everything we are still almost certainly better off than with four more years of Obama 2.0.

I get that no politician is going to save us but I'd rather not try to push for my own persecution.
