me: a house in the middle of nowhere would be nice
also me: *completely reliant on the city befause he doesn't drive*
ah well, a high floor in a condo is kind of like having a house on a hill, isn't it
you don't actually have to make very good software to raise money with VCs. you just need to be a good promoter and talk a big game.
nostr:npub14trv64zk7rxwcjay0z9z2ypzfuqwalnad7mkxn6jq0tlg0p6d2eqgp9774 i was actually thinking about VC funded stuff that isn't sustainable. i heard Notion raised a shit ton of cash and people are saying they're grossly overvalued. it's a useful app for organising information but they raised 300 million on a valuation of 1 billion, which is ridiculous.
nostr:npub14trv64zk7rxwcjay0z9z2ypzfuqwalnad7mkxn6jq0tlg0p6d2eqgp9774 i was also thinking about apps that never existed but would be useful if they did, but the target audience can't or won't pay for them.

some apps are a good idea, but they can't make money. they should definitely exist, and someone should definitely be making a living on coding them. but this money must come out of thin air, somehow.
what can a monk really teach you except for how to be a monk? he most certainly can't set another example than that.
the single mosquito that lives in Oslo found me
hitting like rewards the person. boosting gets the word around. i'd rather have a boost than a like.
my natural reaction to something i like is to click like.
but when something resonates, i make a deliberate effort to boost. there is no place in my mind for boosts. it is most definitely not my first natural impulse. but this is how word gets around on Fedi.

if you ask me about the details and who did what, it might not be exactly as i told it. but the first person i met there, at the small reception desk, had a back problem. the person i had emailed earlier had Blizzard stitched up. but it was basically 3 ladies in a fairly small location, plus local people who gave them supplies. not as grand as the website might suggest.
it wasn't really an option for her to take sick leave - despite being entitled to it in every sense of the word. my cat was one of the first patients. she had no time to be sick.
the biggest animal welfare NGO in Norway is behind Lisaklinikken - the only free-of-charge vet clinic in Norway, for low-income pet owners.
know what i saw on my first day?
the main vet behind it was on the job despite having a slipped disc. i think she should've had sick leave, but she really believes in the project.

i want to extend a thank-you to the small animal clinic "Dyrlege Blom" that got the surgery for Blizzard done. it would have usually cost more than they charged, but they were kind to me. i know i underpaid. it was what i had at the time. they did the urgent stuff. but i'm a big fan of what Lisaklinikken in Oslo is doing.
