that kind of behaviour works if you're a billionaire, but it doesn't work if you haven't been blessed with rich parents.
if i aligned my values with the traits that ADHD has "gifted" me, it would be very unpopular, because i just wouldn't give two shits, and come off as very uncaring or careless.

at this point in my life, i've been embarrassed so many times because of things i just can not, for the love of christ, manage.

i didn't buy a stand for the fretless bass so i have nowhere elegant to put it. i don't know why i didn't buy a stand. i had three of them at one point, when i owned an electric guitar + electric bass + acoustic guitar. i could have just ordered that, but didn't think about it. i spent plenty of time picking the instrument, but forgot about everything else. *slaps his brain*
my fretless bass looks like a steel-string acoustic guitar with an unusually long neck and unusually thick strings.
nostr:npub1xrpwdu93cnpxa34g80cpqdfskkwx06usty7vrpl4palfvxhjn73sap3dmc how do you go about finding music friends in a city as fully grown adult? i have played piano in front of an audience here and there (bar jam sessions) and although i was nervous, i was asked to come back.
i'm fairly good at pretending to be a responsible and productive adult for brief periods of time.
i can do it just fine for a little while but then my brain runs out of breath.
if the ability to keep your life on track is comparable to having a natural talent for juggling, then #ADHD is like having absolutely none of it.
you can just about manage it if you try really hard, but you're just not good at that.
juggling is to keep several balls going in a circle.
i'm better at football (soccer). there is ONE ball and it keeps moving all over the place.
if i have ONE ball i can chase, i'm fine.
"why does Thor talk about #ADHD all the time?"
because it kind of slaps me in the face every waking moment of my day. i'm constantly reminded of it.
life just looks different for me, and if i socialise, i notice the difference, and become self-conscious, because i feel like a fish out of water.
"why does Thor talk about ADHD all the time?"
because it kind of slaps me in the face every waking moment of my day. i'm constantly reminded of it.
when i visited my friend in Trondheim, i forgot to flush the toilet once, and my friend said he'd usually get angry, but since he knew a little about how i am, and that i have #ADHD, he asked why that happened.
forgetting to flush isn't unusual for me. it doesn't happen every week, but it happens more often when my usual routine is disrupted by something like travel or staying at somebody else's house.
i can have routines but they're very fragile because it's just not something that comes very naturally to me. imagine a house of cards and someone opens the door...

nostr:npub1jhuk93p4cj9lwyx58pjxc8dt568drym2djyy2qhx0u8dawlskl7s2fxhwd ask most of my friends and they're not going to say i'm too stupid to work or anything. but i've noticed that when i stay with them and they notice my quirks, they realise that what i say about how disorganised i am is a tad more severe than usual, because i keep forgetting things that normal adults always remember, such as flushing the toilet.
nostr:npub1jhuk93p4cj9lwyx58pjxc8dt568drym2djyy2qhx0u8dawlskl7s2fxhwd successful freelancers and consultants can only happen if there's a contact network that wants whatever you're selling. you need to be useful to business people even as a freelancer. and unlike with a day job, they won't invest a cent in training, so you must know your job from day one. in the case of computers, this means they won't hire you unless you've worked with their particular software system before.
