Anyway, there is no such thing as perfect privacy. Everything has trade offs. Bitcoin can be used privately enough if you know what you’re doing. The trade offs monero makes, for a marginal gain in privacy, is not worth it in my opinion.

My reading of MiCA is that P2P is outside of scope and therefore not subject to the requirements imposed by this directive on centralised exchanges (VASP and CASP). Please let me know if I'm wrong about this.

Fully P2P markets like Bisq, Robosats, Vexl, LNP2PBot, Mostro, HodlHodl... have a huge opportunity to capture siginificant share of this huge market.

For traders, market makers and liquidity providers there is an opportunity for profit. Liquidity is thin right now in these markets. They can easily charge 3-5% to bridge the gap.

Mined bitcoin has no history so is arguably more private than monero?

If you really think monero has better privacy than bitcoin, then bring it to bitcoin. Bitcoin is changing how finance, energy, and power works - monero isn't. So time spent in monero that could have been spent in bitcoin is a disservice to humanity. Figure out what change is needed, fork if necessary, then watch as nodes choose to run your improvement. Then we all win.

that looks interesting, and to be fair I only skimmed it but this jumped out at me “Crucially, with FROST you don't have to worry about storing additional metadata about your wallet. You only need a threshold number of devices (or their backups), nothing more.” So, I think this is why the seed phrase is superior because it doesn’t tie one to a vendor or their devices, unless I’m reading it wrong

Multisig backups are a mess. The BSMS standard exists, but in my experience, the BSMS files are not compatible 100% from wallet to wallet. I’ve tried and some wallets fail to load BSMS files created by others. Period. This leaves me feeling like I would need to rely on one wallet vendor for recovery instead of the basic and universal, uncomplicated seed phrase. So for long term storage, it’s frightening to feel like you might have problems later if your chosen wallet vendor vanishes. You need to be concerned with derivation paths, key fingerprints and all that mess. My question is: has anyone simplified multisig (self-custody) backups to the fool-proof level of seed phrase simplicity? #asknostr #multisig
