The animal train is making its way across the highest section of the farm. Thats not our property off in the distance, just a nice pic from up here. 120' higher than the house...need to start storing water up here. Putting in water catchment and distribution systems at even small scale isnt cheap though.

Its been pretty solid on some trees and shrubs that I was familiar with.

Found a few shrubs that it keeps calling in invasive nanking cherry...not sure just yet on those and a few others. I guess its like any "ai" type product right now in that you need to be skeptical and try and cross reference if you id something of importance.

Didnt finish the note...as for not defining things, including myself...definitions, I think, are a requisite for a healthy, functioning society. I wasnt labeling or defining as a pejorative at all. Thats why I started with common current definition.

I hear what you are saying about labels and definitions but when speaking in generalities you gotta use words that have meaning. Most people know what right and left are in todays context. I am sure you understand what I mean by leftist, as do the people on the podcasts I follow. They often mention the left as who they are and identify with. I enjoy many of their episodes and think many of the folks they have on are doing important work.

Permaculture seems to attract intellectuals and academics from the left more than from the right. A podcast I follow leans hard left, which is fine. I have no issue with someone being left or right. My experience is just that the folks further to the left in this space are more condescending and toxic.

Maybe when enough MAGA folks get all permie or regen ag, I could say the same about them...it just hasnt been my experience that anyone with a conservative or right lean in the permaculture or regen ag space has the same tone or attitude. They mostly seem to be positive and uplifting. Even folks from the preparedness community...less doom and gloom from preppers in the space than outside. Just my experience though.

I actually lean further left than you might think on some issues. Mostly because, as you mentioned, we live in the real world. The real world being a huge government thats followed the road of good intentions to sometimes not so great places...but is where we are so it is what it is.

As for my place on the political spectrum, I guess it depends what the issue is. In general, I dont know that I fit anywhere on that spectrum at the moment. Maybe that makes me anarchist in ideals but a centrist in practice?

Not trying to get to down in the weeds.

There just seems to be more hate, jealousy, and negativity from that side of the space and I was puttinf that out there to see if I was crazy or not.

Is it me or is the leftist end of the spectrum of local food / regen ag / permaculture the most toxic and condescending place to visit?

I just dont get the same energy from the anarchists, "centrists", apolitical, or even "conservatives". To be fair though, maybe I am not looking in the right places.

New one for me...thanks for sharing

Stacking functions? Or just stacking tasks and being efficient? Exercise, overseeding, and observation...I even turned off nostr:npub15879mltlln6k8jy32k6xvagmtqx3zhsndchcey8gjyectwldk88sq5kv0n for a bit during this "chore" today.

Using an off the shelf pasture mix with some white, red, crimson clover and a touch of daikon for fun. These pastures need some work.

Right on.

Do I spy a black walnut there on the right of the pic?

I never understood what all the "I need to watch what I say" talk was on podcasts. I always listened on Podcast Addict. Started playing with Fountain now. It took me awhile to realize that it seems a large marjority of people use apple or spotify for listening to podcasts. I dont think some podcasters even know that they wont get "banned" outside of the big podcast platforms. Its odd.

I was hoping to get quite a few trees in the ground during the dormant season this year. Just started the process...trees can be pricey. Looking for a place that ships bare root right now to save costs.

I was looking at planting everything from support species to fruit and nut trees.

I am sure I can find a bareroot seedling for under 20 USD.

Looks like "wineberries". Technically an "invasive" here. Not the best berries but they are the best price! We get them everywhere and eat our share.
