The new Trezor hardware wallet appears to be using the OPTIGA Trust M security chip.
It's an interesting choice, as it's closed source hardware that's powered by open source MIT-licensed software.
OPTIGA Trust M is better than the ATEC608 that's found in BitBox, Passport & Coldcard because:
– there's no NDA, the devs can report bugs to improve the security
– you can verify what the chip does & how it works.
However, it still isn't open source hardware. We'll have to wait for Tropic Square in 2025 to finally get that.
If you’re planning to buy a new Trezor Safe 3 hardware wallet, you can also support my work by using my referral link:

so is this the safe version?
What is merged mining and who invented it?
According to Paul Sztorc in S14 E13 of the Bitcoin Takeover podcast, it was Satoshi Nakamoto and Hal Finney who first created merged mining in order to allow Namecoin to be secured by the Bitcoin miners.
My 5 hour-long interview with Paul is now available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts & YouTube. If you want to better understand Drivechains and the intentions behind the proposal, check it out.
