I went to an exhibit of a Ukrainian who painted icons on ammunition boxes left by Russian soldiers. I was thinking about this idea that they are not typical icons - the medium of ammunition boxes tell more of the story than a usual icon. Yet, iconography is also a medium to express an idea, they are not comics, frescos or art on ammunition boxes. So both the material medium and the symbolic genre medium are a message in and of themselves.
I am more into unique tobacco pipes.
