Does anyone know of any free and open source camera apps for Android that record video in a format (container & codec) that is completely free to use without licence or royalty? Libre Camera & Open Camera use MP3 or MP4 which have varying levels of royalties issues.
Open Camera does use 3GP/3GPP, but accordingtoy my research, that's just the container, & Open Camera doesn't specify what codex is being used inside it. Most codecs for 3GP are not royalty free.
I see this screen when creating a new account, then the Create Account button makes the account without asking about signers.

I think it's an F-Droid version feature that's missing, then. I just updated to v0.94.3-FDROID, & the signer option stilldoesn't exist when creating a new profile. I wonder if it's since F-Droid apps typically don't interact with Google servers for push notifications. Maybe it was considered not worth it to add the feature since it wouldn't work well without push notifications.
But Amethyst does offer push notifications thru Unified Push, so maybe there's another reason why.
Oh well. Thanks for the help, tho
I'm using v0.92.2-FDROID
The button's not there when I add an account. Are you using the F-Droid version of the app?
No. I'm using the F-Droid version of Amethyst, & I don't see anything it its settings or in Primal's settings mentioning signers.
What's the context for sharing this quote? If I didn't already know you claim to be Christian, I'd assume you might be Morman or "Progressive Christian", so called.
Thank you! I'm hoping to find the time soon to share a NIP idea for DNS-free relays so that Nostr is more censorship resistant & so that it's easier for anyone to set up a relay since it won't involve purchasing a domain name. It doesn't involve blockchain or DHTs, & it still adheres to Nostr's client-relay architecture.
I bet that would speed up adoption especially for private group use cases since someone could quickly spin up a local server then have their friends use it.
I like that idea, but I think that note-specific PoW has its uses, too. For example, a public figure might want to be able to receive DMs from the general public but not get spammed or sent messages that aren't really that important. But if they said in their bio that they only receive DMs with a certain difficulty of PoW attached, anyone who really needed to contact them could after putting in the work.
Those sliders would be really nice.
Yeah, or relays could set a baseline PoW difficulty for the posts they receive. The higher the difficulty, likely the better the content. Or at least much less spam could be expected on relays with higher baselines.
That's a shame. Notes with attached, PoW is an excellent idea.
Which #Android clients support adding NIP-13 Proof of Work to notes? And do any allow for selectively adding it to just certain notes or let users decide the difficulty level of the Proof of Work?
