Checking in on Nostr again. See the same influencer bias and favoritism still on this platform. News and trending sources cover the same accounts over and over again so much it's not even funny. The usual social media cliches happening here as Twitter or whatever my X wants to be called nowadays. Low followed account makes a brilliant post, barely any attention. Popular social media circle jerked account makes the same point two months later and they are hailed as a visionary for it. Nostr developers, ever wonder why some get more attention than others even if they aren't really doing more? And don't get me started on why some "cheerleaders" get so much attention. Careful everyone, you are being manipulated on an "algo free" service.
I will never understand why people give money so easily to "influencers" and I see it happening on here now too. Influencer starts a fundraiser to pay for their latest podcast, idea, or event. Many of them look wealthy and are constantly travelling the world yet they need your money. One of the oldest tricks in the business book: Never pay for something yourself when you can get others to fund it for you. Stop fueling someone else's success and start building your own. Quite the in crowd club already forming on nostr and circle jerking each other.
Since BTC has grown every cycle, the number of “influencers” have grown and as well as changed up with new crop of fresh young faces with better camera equipment and filters. Each of them more interested in getting followers and fame than truly advancing the reach of the technology. Be extremely weary of what they say. See through their “one of us” speeches. Every industry is the same. Someone somewhere wants to be famous from it and make a buck. These people are the shovel makers of the Gold Rush. Looking at these conventions and who is speaking is such a dead giveaway. Bitcoin influencers are D List celebrities hoping to get famous. Ask yourself, what exactly are they doing to advance the network? What are they building? Other than their Fiat accounts.
Checking in on Nostr. As I figured… hero worship has taken hold here like every other place. A bunch of Bitcoin celebrities that have not actually done anything other than be a mouth or media personality are sucking simp followers in and the so called open Nostr ecosystem is spoon feeding this to all newbs. And you all are falling for it. Every new app and search bar offers the same recommended follow list!?!!? Very sad. Bring on the real interesting people not getting attention. Thatis what will keep new people wanting to stay here not circle jerking the same “celebs”. Nostr.band is about as close to decent as I can see.
Why was it called #NostrAsia (a continent)? When #NostRica was named for a country. It's a terrible name for an event in Japan. Was it named by a white person who thinks all Asian countries are the same? Just saying... 🙊

Why are there so many posts about Blue Sky on here? Is this some passive aggressive way of smugly celebrating that you were invited in while many others still sit on the sidelines? The world truly never grows out of grade school cliques.
