The ups and downs of Bitcoin make me feel much more connected to the global economy than the fictitious fiat value in my bank account.

It was a blockchain course, and they skimmed through Bitcoin, but the photo of a clandestine mining farm in the former Soviet Union spoke to me: these people are not playing casually here. There is something special about this technology.

Brazil's Minister of Human Rights is out, accused of sexual harassment. While the accused claims innocence, this scandal highlights the pervasive culture of misogyny and rape culture in Brazilian politics and decision-making.

I've walked through the valleys of the wilderness in time. Only to find out. That you have love in places I can't describe. I need you

It's the sunrise! ☀️

My X account: deactivated. Alexandre prohibits its use: now I'm back with a vpn in full force.

I want to know who has my private keys and what are you doing with it.

I am very interested in how we can use ML as a service so that users can tweak their own Nostr clients with full granularity—not the deceptive black box of illusory control we have today with filtered words and ‘hide these’ options. If I were wealthy, I would invest in Nostr apps focused on algorithmic sovereignty.

Twitter was paramount in bitcoins growth and its battles. Was a very cool quirky place eons before that too. Even though I have a very old account, bitcoin was the reason I started using it more frequently.

I met an incredible amount of good ppl there. Some of the best ppl I know was directly or indirectly because of the bird app. Hired ppl. Connected ppl.

There was/is absolutely nothing like it.

It's hard to imagine how the direction of my life would have gone, it was greatly impacted by it.

Crazy place! A true public square, I'm incredibly grateful for it.

Covid killed it, or at least accelerated its dystopian trajectory.

US politics gravitational force also doesn't help. Nothing on earth can scape use politics, everyone and everything deal with its consequences.

Even decentralized things. But they fare better. See bitcoin.

Anywho... Being with the X account deactivated over the weekend was quite nice, it had been a very long time since I fully disconnected. It is still a lot of signal, a lot of Lindy. But is also became an open sewer. (Why?)

The algorithm evolved for maximum conflict. It's hard to even describe how much it makes your skin crawl. It finds all the shit you don't want to read by the ppl you don't even knew about existed and vomits on you. Even with the large muted word list. It's not a healthy place.

Maxium engagement = more ad views?!

I don't want the firehose all the time. Humans are not designed for that. Different moods different content. Different types of engagement. Maybe even different clients for different sub network graphs. It's time time evolve. I think Nostr takes us there.

BUT I think Twitter's value can't be ignored. It is still a ginormous network.

That's aside from good ppl I know there, where it is our only comms channel.

I plan on drastically decreasing my use of it, truly limiting to posts about Nostr, projects I like and amplifying bitcoin things I believe in. The goal is to trend towards end of use. Hopefully it gracefully coincides with Nostr rising as the new public square. Protocols must be open. There must algo choice. Or we are doomed to doom scroll and ad target conflict.

I no longer will allow myself to scroll.

And will try to starve the beast as much as possible.

Twitter is pivotal for scientists. When I was in grad school, it was part of the official research pipeline. I think it is dangerous for a Bitcoin professional to simply not have access to it. I am using a vpn to at least stay connected, although my account is noticeably shadowbanned. What I want from a social network is clear, explicit control over my hyperparameters, down to the core. What I want from Nostr is a client that will create a research and development timeline focused only on optech-style conversations, where I can absolutely filter misogyny/bigotry/trolling against women and keep the high-signal technical topics. I also hope to have at least the minimal power to design my own algorithms transparently, without shady mechanisms of algorithmic manipulation on the client side that promise functionality but don’t deliver.

Fixing the problems of the world with my projects.

Let's talk about abouts: https://scalarschool.medium.com/the-onion-model-for-bitcoin-open-source-development-7d7dc07ce479 And I would love to have the point of view of who is hiring, who is looking for jobs, who is indexing the grant opportunities, etc. I obviously don't have all the answers, and I tried to be neutral and resist the test of time even if it is less effective and less to the point. But if I see. Someone. In a Q&A to an SME in Bitcoin development. Asking. Why is Bitcoin not sticky enough. I'll act out.

And this, nostr:npub1trr5r2nrpsk6xkjk5a7p6pfcryyt6yzsflwjmz6r7uj7lfkjxxtq78hdpu, is a point of failure for freedom—the Brazilian Bitcoin technocrats. Be careful not to heroize them too much. Never underestimate Brazil's power to lead any social technology, whether it’s linguistic-meatspace technology or a fully-fledged, apparent virtual way out. We need more American transparency, meritocracy (accountability), and honesty in business. Only Americans understand the hard game of seeking freedom despite the enslaving factors. Brazilians may seem silly, but locally, they often fetishize enslaving one another. That is why I could not maintain any safe or profitable relationship with Brazilians when I was American—even less so as a former American, fully Americanized but having to thrive in Brazil! They would shoot me and hide the body if they had a reliable chance. Women are still even closer to biological extinction. You'll have a great time. You'll be idolized. You'll think you've found paradise. And that is great, and that is what we want. Just be vigilant of the bits and bytes. I honestly don't know how I will make it big as they are all (marketing experts) clustered together. The best I can do is be resistant, provide the material I produce free of patents and copyrights, work tightly with academic institutions as a researcher, and dream of just looking around countries that genuinely care about women when I am sorted with the level of attention I'll have to provide to my parents. I wish my business environment would improve in the next 3, 4, 5, 6 years. With the amount of foreign investment injected in certain directions, it just won't. My job is to not let it spoil too much.

Also, I would love to be guided toward very didactic documentation on which type of control a keyholder (client) has. Everything feels sketchy, shady, and weird, like those Bitcoinheiros communities in Brazil that make fun of women and don't let us ever know the truth.

Client manipulation on Nostr is infantile. It pushes us to follow the same (great) voices repeatedly, but that is a major point of failure and a loss of privacy and peace for the posters. Privacy also includes the right not to be importuned. Or do these people gain greatly from it financially? I don't think so at all. I thoroughly believe in the best intentions of everyone here.

Speech censorship is terrible, and it will worsen over time. But what is happening in Brazil is nuanced. We have a thousand other ways to connect with the outside world, and one of them does not pass through the algorithmic king who manipulates humanity's willpower and attention at his whim—nurturing hate groups and driving humanity to a complete divide. Let that sink in.
