I really appreciate that there are still some people left who can think for themselves and don't view things solely in black and white (since they usually aren't). It's unfortunate that it's typically the other type who participate on Twitter. I believe this is due to the irreversible damage caused by character limit, which has been lifted, but the learned behavior changes slowly.

A few weeks ago, I knew nothing about weight quantization in AI models, had no idea what LoRA was, and was unaware of how badly mmap is broken on Windows.
Contributing to a new open-source project feels like being in a room where everyone is smarter than you. However, after a few weeks, you become one of these smart people, and you can start helping others.

Check the sigs and which keys are you signing them. I remember when Alby had broken zaps (they were signing with their key, but they were claiming it was signed by my key), the zaps were showing in Iris but not in Damus. Maybe Iris is not checking the signatures of zaps at all?
Each time I see a women's panel at a conference, I can't help but ponder why these ladies are confined to their own table, instead of eating with the "grown-ups." How about we extend more invitations to women for the main panels, rather than segregating them into their own?
Yeah, iPhone can already transcribe English and Spanish (and maybe other languages) without the internet access, so the technology is there. And with whisper.cpp it’s even open-source and free to use by anyone.
The large model is amazing. It needs around 4GB of RAM, but the results are worth it. And it performs really well on the M1/M2 hardware.
