How will the dm be directed by the network to the receiver user? Isn't that info that needs to be public apart from the s key?
If everyone else in the network only know "s", who will make sure the dm reaches the destination?

Both main chain and lightning can be used as an effective settlement tool.
Regular people will not realize when their payments (Paypal to bank, Remitances, Revolut to Visa, Strike to Amazon) will be settled in bitcoin.
Payment processors will settle their flows with bitcoin because it is the easiest way of doing it worldwide. Time will tell.

Since most upgrades do not touch consensus rules, I view them as routine "security upgrades". But maybe the code does not really need any more changes. Core devs are paid with grants, and I suppose they have to do something otherwise why paying them.

Yes, also the login process is automatic as long as the device is pluged in. Password managers can achieve that, but it might be more work if you wanted to port to another machine, or change browser (in case of passwords saved in browser). It is very similar to what Yubikey does.
