I don’t always agree with everything I say

Yes, the use case being multiple people posting from an account where these users shouldn’t have access to the private key.

Is there an open source #nostr web client where backend does the note signing?

Ok, but this would lead to decreased demand, which would imply supply needs to decrease as well to bring things into balance, which then means less economic activity, people losing their income, and the general prosperity decreasing.

Which may be a good thing. There are people actively calling for ‘degrowth’ due to environmental reasons.

But speaking purely from the economics point of view, this doesn’t seem that great. 🤔

What’s the typical argument for why systematic deflation would be fine? Is it that demand wouldn’t be affected by appreciating money or that supply wouldn’t be affected by demand?

So, I’m one of the people who are convinced that CO2 is a problem. As in, it’s an existential threat to human civilisation. Not the planet, mind you, the planet will be fine.

But that doesn’t make me a Bitcoin hater. See, I don’t believe that energy use is the problem, it’s the mode of generation. When I switch on my laptop, it doesn’t start spewing out CO2.

I believe that the idea to start regulating what energy can be used on is a very slippery slope. Ok, let’s assume that a censorship resistant, global internet money is not worth it (I very much think it is). Why would gaming be exempt? Why would the energy spent in data centres running the ads industry be exempt?

I don’t think that a move to Bitcoin as the world currency necessarily implies that taxation will be gone. The state was perfectly capable of collecting taxes before fiat, be it in mead, furs, wax, wheat, gold, or anything else of value.

As long as the state has monopoly on violence, taxation will be a thing. Or let me rephrase that, whoever has monopoly of violence in a polity (the state, the rebels, the mafia) will collect a form of taxes to finance their operations.

So social programs are fine in a BTC world. As long as whoever has monopoly on violence bothers with them.

How do you zap on a note in #damus? I can zap users just fine if I go to their profile, but I can’t seem to be able to figure out how to zap on a particular note.

Are there any areas in Porto, Portugal where one might want to avoid staying in when travelling with small kids?

No one using it would do it. Usenet style.

Though I don’t see that happening. I was never an active Twitter user, and then they broke it even more. Never been on Mastodon, although I wanted to, because I couldn’t decide on a server.

Nostr hits a perfect balance of things for me.

Google Play about to start requiring all kinds of crap for wallets?

This just shows that freedom is not separable. Freedom of speech is freedom of transaction is software freedom. Freedom of speech and/or transaction within corporate walled gardens is just an illusion that can be taken away at any point.

And how do you propose that gets done?

If Ukraine stops fighting, their country, culture, and people get annihilated. If Russia stops fighting, yes, the war ends.

But how do you get Russia to stop fighting?
