I don’t always agree with everything I say

Yeah, I ❤️ Rust too 😂😂

Looks like the zap approval requests are not going through for me at the moment too. I had this a few days ago as well, but I think they all rolled in a day later.

That made me try Primal though, and I must say the zapping functionality there works great. So I now switch between clients, and use Primal when I want to zap!

What the hell!

For real? Hope you're good..

And, well, Happy New year! 😅

Judging by the facial expression Mr E is losing though! 😬

Monopoly is a great game. In that it teaches very well how the system can be basically rigged against you!

Who needs to be tagged to renew the #nostrverified domain? 😬

#asknostr

Oh man, lol 🤣

I'm sure that must be a thing though!

Yup, it is 😄

Aaand they missed the 'Indian IPA'. But I guess they just didn't need it for the meme! 😄

nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg Just set up Primal to try it out and see if zaps work out of the box on iOS. Pretty seamless experience, kudos!

However, it'd be great to know more in detail what it is that I just set up! 😂

Given that I got a persistent address, there were no channel opening fees, and you needed an e-mail address, I assume the node is not in the phone, right?

Also, if I buy sats from the wallet, do you get a cut and I support development of Primal in that way too? It's cheaper to get the sats from an exchange, but I'd be happy to top up from the app, if it supports the resistance!

Welcome!

I was afraid you’d be one of those people who might not hang around due to how Bitcoin centric this place tends to be. But your bio says it all, you’ll fit right in!

If I read the reasoning correctly it’s that it looks like we’re heading into a recessionary environment coupled with inflationary pressure not only from the rate cuts themselves, but also actual bottlenecks on the supply side?

Is there anything you suggest (NFA DYOR style) when it comes to investing apart from stacking sats?

Yes, exactly! Rust lets you encode a lot more into your types than what you would normally be used to in other languages.

Regarding errors, if there’s semantic meaning attached to the negative ints in the API, you might want to have an Error type that captures that meaning on Rust side. Look into the thiserror crate that lets you easily spin up custom error types.

Not yew and wasm, but lots of Rust. Typically you deserialize directly into your type, and then maybe have an additional validation method on it if the shape is not enough.

In practice it’s not really that bad when it comes to types. You can set Serde to ignore unknown fields to deal with APIs that throw the jungle together with the monkey and the banana. But yes, if something that you need out of the API can be NULL, that should be an Option on Rust side.

But that’s a win. Right? Right? 😂😅

I think your best bet is to have an account with a centralized exchange, and then doing limit orders to get maker fees. That’s the cheap part. Getting it off the exchange is the expensive part with those amounts. I know that some exchanges support Lightning, and I think on some of them Lightning withdrawals are currently free.

Opening a channel to a self-custodial wallet can get expensive, but if you’re running a node it’s probably not that bad.

“it operates on the Nostr protocol”

Oh really? How does “it” avoid double-spend then, given that the Nostr protocol doesn’t have… you know… _a blockchain_.

Clowns.🤡

It probably will though. Because in normie-land Bitcoin is crypto.

I recently had a conversation on the orange tech site about Nostr. And the take-away was that many normies find the fact that as soon as they get on Nostr they’ll have Bitcoin shilled very off-putting. From their perspective it’s ‘crypto-adjacent’ and full of crypto scammers.

Now, I understand why that gets people aggravated. But it really shouldn’t, that’s just the way things are. That also means that in normie-land the price of Bitcoin rising makes people FOMO in. But a significant portion of those will be people who think that if Bitcoin could’ve 10000x, any other ‘coin’ potentially can. Because they don’t really realize that there’s actually a difference. So they’ll go for the cheapest Shitcoin with a pretty website they can find.

For a time this is bound to push up shitcoin prices too. Until the dump part of the scheme, that is. And then the cycle starts anew.

Keep calm and stack sats.
