"The greater part of the population is not very intelligent, dreads responsibility, and desires nothing better than to be told what to do. Provided the rulers do not interfere with its material comforts and its cherished beliefs, it is perfectly happy to let itself be ruled."
βAldous Huxley
Indeed. I was waiting for someone to ask "Why is he taking time off now?" π
I just heard about a guy in California who retired after 47 years of working at a bank and he never took a day off! π―
"For instance, medieval Iceland had a decentralized form of governance with private courts that demanded restitution instead of punishment, lacked public property, and whose leaders, called godi, had to gain voluntary support from free farmers who could switch allegiances to legal systems without changing their place of residence."

"Medieval Iceland illustrates an actual and well-documented historical example of how a stateless legal order can work and it provides insights as to how we might create a more just and efficient society today."

I once met a guy from Somalia now living in the US who told me he wanted to go back there because he had more freedom there.
Of course, Somalia is often jokingly referred to as the libertarian paradise π
I just saw this sheriff's vehicle and it has written on it the slogan:
"Total Enforcement Β° Total Care Β° Total Professionalism"
How totalitarian.
"...the geo political conflicts we are seeing are likely about who will run the global government, not whether we should have one or not."
"Instead of a dictator replacing the republic, the tyranny of an oligarchy controlled by globalist seems to be the trajectory. Instead of an Emperor and an Empire, we seem to be facing the prospect of a Global totalitarian government. A socialist, fascist superstate. Communism. A technocracy. A neo feudalist society. Psychopathic Authoritarianism is my preferred term, as what we are seeing is new. It is a blending of these various forms of totalitarianism."
"The animated corpse of an American Republic is merely going through the motions and behaving somewhat like the post republic Roman Empire. Instead of being under the thumb of an emperor, a deep state shadow government has infected the remaining corpse of a republic. Congress, like the roman Senate, appears to have become a quaint tradition. Β Politicians are captured, intimidated, and or blackmailed. Government, i.e. deep state controlled media, including social media, have censored information, facilitating massive disease, disability, and death from the mRNA nanoparticle injections. They have also brain washed millions into accepting totalitarianism as a normal state of affairs."
The Biden administration is divided over what to do with $687 million in assets a French company forfeited after pleading guilty to aiding terrorist groups like the Islamic State, according to people familiar with internal deliberations. The administration is considering whether it can or should funnel some of the money toward helping international victims of ISIS. https://nyti.ms/3RCKM4D

Funny how the Executive branch is now in charge of appropriating money in the United States, and not Congress anymore...
I would like to start a new community, but I'm waiting until you can do the above two things in a Nostr community: post without needing approval, and a moderator being able to remove posts (such as spam, off-topic, or whatever).

Currently, known issues include:
- Embedded `naddr`s for groups aren't rendered in Amethyst.
- Since Coracle doesn't do post approvals, no moderators are added to the group's definition. Coracle also uses a one-off key to administer the group, so administration can be shared. This makes it impossible to administer groups created in Coracle from other clients.
- Groups created in Coracle don't show up in Satellite.
- Group posts created in Coracle don't show up in Amethyst, and are hidden behind a tab in nostrudel.
I recognize that I'm the one breaking interoperability, but it's my opinion that forcing moderators to post approvals has made adoption of groups fail pretty badly. Making moderation opt-in rather than opt-out would be a big improvement, although I'm open to any opinions on the topic.
I also know that at least Stu has expressed interest in NIP 29 groups, so I don't really expect any changes to satellite. But I do want to make Coracle's groups useful for Nashville, which means interoperability.
I support allowing anyone who has joined a group to post without needing approval first, but then allowing a moderator to remove a post if they deem it necessary. On NoStrudel it doesn't appear to me that you can remove a post that is not approved.
A truly free society, with a truly free market. What is freedom? The absence of State coercion. How do you get rid of State coercion? You get rid of the State.

#thinkoutsidethestate #voluntarism #anarchy
Get rid of the groups of people who can even propose such stuff. Move towards a private law society. There should be no "public office" (unless you move to some community that has that and you agreed to it by contract). It has been said "No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session." So then why have legislatures?

Yeah, those who don't respect their parents might also be more likely to murder others...
