One of my favourite sunset locations in Ireland is Traught Beach near Kinvara in Co Galway. No matter the time of year or the weather I am rewarded with great skies. The beach looks across the water to South Galway and on out to the mountains in Connemara.

I woke this morning feeling a little bit blue and I had intended to visit Epping Forest early. I had to push myself to get my kit and get out. When I arrived at the location I still wasn’t feeling it and lighting conditions were poor with bright sunshine making highlights harsh and shadows too black. I was about to give up when I decided to explore a part of the forest I hadn’t been in before and everything changed.

I found a curving meandering stream flowing through the woods and as the location was in a gully the lighting was a little better. I spent a couple of hours wandering around and hopefully I have managed to get something decent. Needless to say photography has again lifted my spirits and boosted my sense of wellbeing. Please enjoy and I’ll post some more images later.

Epping Forest Autumn Gold. I spent some time at Epping Forest today with my mate. The beautiful autumnal colours showing fantastically well despite the cloud cover. The oranges, yellows and green were literally vibrant and saturated . I hope to go back again tomorrow if the weather allows for some more before it all disappears for another year. Please enjoy.

Returned to Connaught Water, Epping Forest this week with my buddy Mark. It’s a grey cloudy day so I wasn’t expecting much but being out and about in nature was reward enough. What literally brightened our visit was seeing the Mandarins on a small lake island. The males are in full colour and posturing strutting about on the bank in front of the females. Pity the light was so poor but definitely worth another visit. Please enjoy.
