The work is years of school and actual having a 9-5 working in the field for years before anyone should take your opinion seriously. This is the frustrating thing with these topics- folks that couldn’t pass a biology 101 undergraduate final are giving medical advice here. It’s fucked up and reckless.

Garlinghouse is a GENIUS at being a weasel.

That means that he’s going to be good at finding the most effective marketing campaign that a weasel could find.

Going after Maximalism is going to be effective. Not accurate or grounded in values of course just effective.

Everyone outside of Bitcoin does in fact hate the “maxis”. An effective campaign here against maxis is one where:

1. Everyone is brainwashed into believing that Bitcoin is not the discovery or invention that it is.

2. It’s ridiculous to believe only 1 of 20M cryptos is the only one that matters.

3. Banks need technologies more effective than Bitcoin.

4. Maxis are mean, evil, and they will control all of our money if we don’t get other cryptos adopted.

From my experience in trying to orange pill people in power at the top of the fiat game, those smug buttplugs are now looking for a way not to look stupid on missing Bitcoin and this is their chance. They get to find some way to blame it on maxis being having the concentration of capital.

PS. I don’t ascribe to being a “maxi”. This was very fun to call myself this in response to Vitalik’s epithet in a self deprecating way. But groups of people that adopt a set of definitions and labels have suboptimal outcomes throughout history. The group members have to adopt the new rules and definitions as they go or a member is ostracized and the reward for honoring each new definition is groupthink.

Groupthink flies in the face of individuality. Individuality is upstream of creativity.

Promoting individuality is my shit. Everyone is so beautifully weird and interesting when they get out of shackles, labels or expectations.

So be creative with how to be on the offensive with Garlinghouse and the lot if you are sharpening your sword right now. Don’t be surprised if blindly adopting the maxi shared voice of attacking is counterproductive.

Be you. Get creative. Let the individuality come through that will break this weasel’s campaign at its core. The genius of this campaign is calling out the negative traits of groupthink.

I am really starting to understand it’s not so much that people are actually stupid, but that they have been so thoroughly brainwashed and conditioned that the form of callowness in which they exist overrides all forms of thought so that the very idea of taking courageous action is fundamentally impossible.

At a recent wine conference, I was talking to some friends who own a winery. I know they own a little Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptos, so I asked them what they thought about the dystopian future painted by one of the speakers.

The speaker, in his 60s, was pretty pessimistic. My friends blamed his outlook on generational theory. I asked if they’d read The Fourth Turning, and surprisingly, they had!

I told them how optimistic I was for the future—after a big crash, of course. I explained that to succeed through the hard times ahead, you only need to denominate your life in something scarce.

I was obviously referring to Bitcoin. But they took it to mean wine.

"It's great," they said. "Wine just goes up in value over time." When I brought up Bitcoin, they looked at me like I was crazy.

Sure, wine does go up in value over time. And if you age red wine for 2 years before selling it, you can definitely outperform Bitcoin's 44% CAGR. But here’s the problem: unless you’re an insanely sought-after producer, wine is losing value at an incredible rate in Bitcoin terms after that. Wine aging does not out-pace Bitcoin.

These next few years present a simple test that most will fail. What are you going to use as a denominator for your life's work. If your answer isn't Bitcoin, you'll lose.

Going to these wine conferences is frustrating. There are all these amazing winemakers running incredible businesses, yet they’re missing this one simple fact.

Meanwhile, I’m going to out compete all of them—not because I have more training, employees, or resources, but because I chose the right denominator.

Bitcoin is the key.
