I'm currently living in a country in a global south, and #bitcoin casually came up in conversation today.

The person I was speaking to said how they would rather have a family member in the US send back money via #bitcoin rather than Western Union, but that their bank blocked them from connecting to any bitcoin exchanges.

What is the best way to convert bitcoin to the local currency when unable to go through the local bank?

Imagine a small town overlooking the Pacific surrounded by thousands of acres of forest, where you know your neighbors, leave your house unlocked day and night, where you find local farmers who’ll sell you fresh food and where #bitcoin is the local currency.

I’d move there in a heartbeat.

Thought experiment:

In 2140, mining will solely rely on transaction fees due to zero block subsidy.

This new competition dynamic may result in miners prioritizing valuable blocks over others.

For instance, if whales broadcast high-value (and high-fee) transactions at the same time, other miners might attempt to claim those rewards instead of building upon the existing block.

Why would they compete for 100m sats when they can get 300m sats? The difficulty would be the same for both.

Consequently, this could lead to an increase in short-term chain splits and potential rollbacks for mining the same lucrative transactions.

If short-term chain splits become common and depending on fee volatility, rollbacks might extend beyond one block. In such a scenario, would the traditional "six confirmations" rule still provide a perfect guarantee of transaction finality?

During the Adoption era there will be few investments outside of #bitcoin that make external allocation of assets worthwhile. This era is the eye watering value increases as people realise the value of a truly scarce, #private asset

In the post-Adoption era all investments will be measured in #bitcoin terms. #bitcoin’s value change will follow world population growth offset (reduced) by world productivity growth

If you're not paying attention to what's going on with The Internet Archive, you're missing a BIG story. This is NOT good. Currently they are under DDOS and this is after they're being sued out of existence for digitizing 78rpm records that aren't even available anymore. They're facing a $600+MM lawsuit. They previously lost a suit during the 'demic when they released digitized books for free. The likelihood that they will end up shut down and entire histories of the net will be lost forever is high.

It's the short sellers getting stopped out which ultimately sends us higher.
