The rule count is too dang high I like freedom. #helistr

That’s the cool part, even the money is being stripped from ā€œtheirā€ control 😁

I don’t think any one is going to let it happen, it just will. Some will fight it and they will loose because you can’t own an idea unless you keep it secret.

This illegal Bitaxe clone is quietly dominating Asia.

Today I had lunch with the guy behind it šŸ‘‡

He’s a young bitcoin entrepreneur from Shenzhen, China.

Quiet, humble—but running a serious operation: large-scale self-mining, hosting, and full-scale manufacturing of mining hardware and spare parts.

He’s been in the space since 2017.

Genuinely believes in bitcoin’s mission.

LuckyMiner started as a hobby in late 2023.

He said he wanted to help more people get into mining—not really to make a profit.

But in early 2024 the demand exploded.

Thousands sold.

BREAKING THE LICENSE.

Bitaxe is open source under CERN-OHL-S-2.0—which means any modifications must be published.

So why do it?

I asked him directly. He didn’t get angry or defensive. He said:

1ļøāƒ£ Retail customers in Asia don’t care about open source, and the Bitaxe brand isn’t suited for the local market

2ļøāƒ£ His team is juggling too many projects—releasing modifications is low priority. Their time is too valuable

Not great reasons—but they felt honest.

šŸ‘‰ Legit Bitaxes:

They now manufacture open-source Bitaxes too—but only for B2B clients, fully license-compliant. LuckyMiners are sold direct to retail customers.

šŸ‘‰ Copying Braiins:

They copied us too—and admitted it to my face. But that’s a story for next time. Follow me so you don’t miss it šŸ˜†

What’s next?

As sales kept growing, they added a Litecoin version earlier this year.

And they plan to keep expanding—with more form factors and higher production volumes.

But he says chip availability is the biggest bottleneck.

CHIPS ARE THE PROBLEM.

Everywhere.

Or rather—not having chips available for purchase is the story here for me.

Hope we find a solution.

Anyways…

I don’t support his decisions.

But I have to admit—he’s a really nice guy, bitcoiner at heart, and I appreciated his honest answer and perspective on the Asian market.

Now you know the story behind the most controversial mini-miner on the market.

Curious to hear your thoughts.

I think we are all going to end up at a point where copyright and patents don’t exist. If you put something out in public the idea is free for everyone else to copy, modify and use. The path to the destination will be painful for some, wonderful for others.

Nah, we are the ruling class.

I sent a big check to the IRS this weekend. Wondering if I had acquired bitcoin instead would it be worth more than I owed by the time they fined me. Hmmm

Youngins that have only had wireless don’t even know why it’s called a mousešŸ˜‚

And I did of course loose my keys in a boating accident, but I’ll build back šŸ˜Ž

FOMO. I was new and listened to the popular people who kept saying how high it could go any day. I’d have more bitcoin if I had taken my time and spread my entry over a longer period instead of shoving my chips in right away. Hindsight is always 20/20 but it’s all good. I’ve learned at lot in the last four years and am excited about the future. Stay humble and stack sats fits me well.

Idk. I use big words I don’t understand. I just know when I create a wallet I write down the seed phrase, wallet version, derivation path and date created because smart software people say it will help if I need to restore it.
