Bitcoin Pizza Day: A Milestone in Crypto History
On May 22, 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz made history by spending 10,000 BTC to buy two Papa John’s pizzas. At the time, those Bitcoins were worth about $41. Today, with Bitcoin at $111,000 per coin, they’d be valued at over $1.11 billion! This transaction, known as Bitcoin Pizza Day, marks the first real-world purchase using Bitcoin, proving its potential as a currency.
Why it matters:
- Proof of Concept: It showed Bitcoin could be used for everyday transactions, not just theoretical value.
- Community Milestone: The event symbolizes Bitcoin’s early days, when enthusiasts believed in its future despite skepticism.
- Value Appreciation: It highlights Bitcoin’s incredible price growth, from pennies to $111,000 per coin.
- Cultural Legacy: Celebrated annually, it reminds us of crypto’s journey and the vision of decentralized finance.
So, next time you grab a slice, tip your hat to Laszlo—his pizzas paved the way for a financial revolution! 🍕
There is evil around every corner in the world and many unknowingly support it.
If getting rich was the only benefit to be on the rightside of history I doubt it would be worth it.
But more importantly than getting rich is later in life you'll be able to look your children in the eye and explain how you were on the right side of history.
Nothing will be more rewarding than that!
Hey Nostr,
I’ve spent 15 years in advertising, marketing, and sales — helping big brands grow. But I’ve recently made a decision: I want to use my skills to help Bitcoin grow instead.
I’m looking to join a Bitcoin-principled company with a real mission. Ideally one focused on onboarding the next wave of normies — something I know how to do well.
Been reaching out on BitcoinJobs.com, but no traction yet. Anyone have:
Leads?
Advice?
Connections / Intros?
A company I should be talking to?
I’m even considering flying to the Bitcoin conference in Vegas just to meet people and network. Worth it?
Appreciate any help from the community 🙏

So much opportunities in the space with lots of marketing needed
Good luck on the journey!
Humans have become much worse drivers over the last decade or two.
I'm more confident in AI and given time AI will continue to improve while humans will likely continue to get worse at driving.
And what if the people keep using them?
By default if its private its private and the government doesn't know - especially if you use some due diligence when using the lightning network.
Happy Birthday to the late & great Hal Finney!

Interesting chart.
Speaking as a Canadian that has been to the USA many times and Europe a hand full of times.
I love Europe for many reasons but there is no disputing while the US is far from perfect its far better then the rest of the world for freedoms.

Last show i watched was the new series of Squid Games. I've probably averaged 2 series a year for the last 4 years.
I seem to much prefer a good bitcoin audiobook or podcast.
I guess i find it a waste of time to watch TV for the most part also Hollywood and all the big media companies are corrupt pushing the DEI narrative which I can't stand.
