The biggest ā€œproductivity hackā€ I have is just not watching television.

What little I watch is very intentional.

In the second half of 2024, I watched Blue Eye Samurai (8 episodes) and Arcane (18 episodes).

In 2025 I watched the first season of Invincible (8 episodes). Usually during lunch, on my computer.

One thing I realized is that since coming back from Egypt three months ago, I didn’t turn on any of our televisions. They were off for the three months I was in Egypt as well.

So when my husband came back he’s like ā€œā€¦why the hell are all the televisions messed up, all apps logged out of, remotes basically dead?ā€

Last night we got one of the televisions working and watched Deadpool and Wolverine, lol.

Arcane is phenomenal television. Glad it made your list.

THIS.

I have stopped watch live TV like 12 years ago (at least, not sure exactly), that was the first step, but still watching movies and series. No I realize I watch lesd than one movie a month and maybe 4-5 TV show episodes, when I'm in the mood for something specific. Like you, on lunch break or in the train when travelling.

Most of the time I'm feeling like I will watch something, I have a long list of more important, more interesting, thing to do first, so I didn't and postpone the movie.

I liked arcane and am almost done with the first book in «the way of kings» thank you for suggesting both of them!

I gave up TV close to 2 years ago. I was a huge time suck. I’m so much more productive these days, learning new skills and back to reading. In fact, I have your book and it’ll be started this week.

TV is a control mechanism and leads to the dumbing down of society. Giving it up is the one of best things you can do for your sanity. Any small amount worth watching will be clipped and available on the internet.

Didn’t watch TV for 5-7 years

I forget that people still watch TV

Same! I hardly watch any. If I do, it's usually because I hit the seven seas to watch an episode or season from a show. That's something I seldomly participate in.

Removed all screens from the house years ago, killed all subscriptions too. Haven't watched movies or tv shows in god knows how long. It's amazing how much time is not taken away from me.

Your kids watch 0 screens NVK?

Nice. I hardly watch either. Particularly because I work in film, and Deadpool vs Wolverine happens to be one movie I've worked on šŸ˜‚

There’s 2 TVs in my house neither are plugged in and haven’t been switched on in around 2 years.

I spend all my spare time in the house playing guitar, reading, listening to podcasts and coding.

All my friends come home from work and spend there entire evening watching crap on Netflix and they wonder why they are wage slaves that never learn any new skills…

Last show i watched was the new series of Squid Games. I've probably averaged 2 series a year for the last 4 years.

I seem to much prefer a good bitcoin audiobook or podcast.

I guess i find it a waste of time to watch TV for the most part also Hollywood and all the big media companies are corrupt pushing the DEI narrative which I can't stand.

Film for the creative and artistic vision, Specific shows for dull periods, But mostly obscure films nobody watches regularly are my forte. Paprika is one of my favorite Anime films. Bay of Angels is one of my favorite French films, To catch a thief is my favorite Hitchcock with Topaz making a close second.

For me the productivity hack was gaming less. Which means I basically play no games at all at the moment since it is an all or nothing thing for me (apparently).

Suddenly I have seas of time and, more importantly, focus available to me.

I stopped watching TV long ago, and it's improved my productivity immensely.

Gaming, when part of my vibe emanation, is a dual-edged sword if not controlled, which I was working on for some time. I've improved on that front since.

You own a TV?
