The CPUs are calm today! It will be a good day! GM 🫂

Did an interview with nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s today regarding Nostr and Damus.
It was freaking great!
When is it out? 🙂
If you are Keynesian, then War increases GDP...
Bloody crap news.
My ESTA was unexpectedly rejected to the states.
The airline won’t check me in and the USA certainly won’t let me in ⛔️
I’m stuck in Lima, Peru 🇵🇪
I’m devastated. I can no longer speak at Pacific Bitcoin.
I’m now struggling to find a way home to Europe as most layovers pass through the States 🇺🇸
I’m really sorry to let everyone down, particularly Cory, P, Stephen and the Swan team.
I was really looking forward to Pacific and just soaking up the LA bitcoin vibe.
At some point over the past month, my ESTA status changed and I wasn’t notified. I checked it before flying to Peru in early September.
I keep a copy of my esta on my phone and didn’t think to log in to the esta dashboard before flying to the states for the third time this year.
Ive searched and the rejection is undoubtedly because of me being in Cuba for the bitcoin documentary I shot there.
Im surprised as @RunwithBitcoin flew to the states successfully yesterday and he was in Cuba as well.
Either way, gotta learn from this and move on.
Next steps.
- work out how to get home.
- find some work to cover the $3k expense of this monumental kerfuffle.
- book an appointment with the British embassy to explain that I am in fact not a Cuban collaborator for a new visa.
- be less of a moron.
I’m really sorry. Hope you’re having a better day than me.
And to those going to Pacific, please send it 🧡

This sucks. Unfortunately I don't think there's anything you can do, but do the expensive "last minute flights with weird layovers" thing - maybe it's an opportunity to explore some new places and their local communities?
Afaik you need ESTA even for transfers (ESTA is like fast visa that you can get online)
The gents nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg Wallet are showing the world what is possible when you combine nostr and bitcoin.
The future is bright. 🫡

It's funny how that is sort of similar to the interface from Strike, but it's built on actual free&open tech...
The reason is that the specific laws touched the companies where it hurts them. In their pockets.
Jellyfin is great! A lot of opportunities to fight the big guys with code!

Thank you, that seems reasonable and desirable! What is your background for this? Are you paid by any group, or is this your personal goal to improve the situation with CSAM?
Our shared goals are to (actually) prevent child abuse (CSAM, trafficking, etc) without giving censorship / manipulation / meddling powers to any of ~200 governments around the world.
Especially with the history of lead individuals in various governments participating on child abuse and with history of using "well-intentioned" laws to exclude large groups of people from their freedoms (participating in economy, social life, etc.).
Having stairs in your life will expand your productive life span by couple years on average.

What exactly do you mean by trust and safety and who are you doing the research for?
"Trust and safety" often means enforcing government policies to exclude people around the world from participating in the community. Is that what you are doing?
Hashtags are used. Some clients (= apps) allow you to follow hashtags like #introduction , which is cool.
I think there could be relays that are dedicated to good initial content and these could be set as default in the apps.
Like only have posts from well known folks, then maybe do some ML to "filter" good and meaningful posts, maybe sprinkle in a bit of web-of-trust based posts, then sprinkle a bit users that joined in the last 24 hours and then maybe some hashtags...
In apps like Amethyst it's actually quite hard now to see the Global thread, it's more hidden than it used to be.
