To my knowledge, we do not have a tornado warning system in place where I live. If the fire whistle blew, there would be way of knowing that it wasn’t simply a fire somewhere.
Is it all done on our phones now? Do we get one of those crazy alerts that tells you to get into your bathtub? We have a cellar, but to be honest, I don’t know how much I trust it. It’s a heavy, old-ass house, and would probably be hard to budge, but it feels too close down there.
Center stairwell, I guess.

I didn’t get past the first 10 minutes of Avatar 2.
Frankly, what we liked about the first movie was the world. The story was a third rate rehash of a dozen other tales.
I just didn’t give a shit. I’ve seen all this. Oh, you take it underwater? So what.
Does anyone else confuse The Bear, which is about beef, and Beef, which is apparently about angry Asians?
Matt Craven played a CIT in Meatballs (1979) and a former camper in Indian Summer (1993). Sort of the same character.

nostr:npub1ahqj3ek7s7lrt4ygsthymx0j0vqunam8vc6ejhn9qn7037prm0pq83wjwd When did Charles Lindbergh get elected and then try to shred the constitution? When did Bryant foment a coup?

nostr:npub1xpcqmx422lf6cm6nzup53vfsfvyz7pjfarwdklj3apxaggjtdqmqg03t05 Aaron Burr (he got featured in a musical!), William Jennings Bryan (he got featured in a play and a movie), Charles Lindbergh, some would argue Huey Long. Those are the famous American ones.
nostr:npub1ahqj3ek7s7lrt4ygsthymx0j0vqunam8vc6ejhn9qn7037prm0pq83wjwd You’re just mentioning assholes. There is nothing to compare this to.

nostr:npub1xpcqmx422lf6cm6nzup53vfsfvyz7pjfarwdklj3apxaggjtdqmqg03t05 As someone, somewhere else said once, his followers don’t like him because of who he is, they follow him because he gives them the platform to be who they truly are.
Agree on the fascism part. Don’t necessarily agree on the uniqueness part. There have been others throughout history. He’s using their playbook. Only a few quite as successful though. That’s the only unique piece IMHO.
nostr:npub1ahqj3ek7s7lrt4ygsthymx0j0vqunam8vc6ejhn9qn7037prm0pq83wjwd Plenty of wannabe dictators throughout history, but not in America. I mean he’s unique as a modern political candidate in the time he came along. It was a perfect storm of shit that I think will be very difficult to recreate.
nostr:npub1xpcqmx422lf6cm6nzup53vfsfvyz7pjfarwdklj3apxaggjtdqmqg03t05 They're completely detached from objective reality, so there's no point in considering anything they have to say. They're fully brainwashed, sycophantic cultists. Even trying to have a discussion with them is a fool's errand. Too many people on the left cling to the notion that they can be reached through reason and persuasion, suffering under the belief that talking to them is a constructive enterprise. It most certainly is not.
nostr:npub1fd2u226k63sjaqz3lk43xw2xkthgmsmsd8ulhacev742pcnk33js9hd540 I don’t believe you can convince them of anything. Not without seriously breaking them psychologically. It’s not rationale. We have to beat them.
nostr:npub1xpcqmx422lf6cm6nzup53vfsfvyz7pjfarwdklj3apxaggjtdqmqg03t05 If he died tomorrow the impulses for their reactions wouldn’t be any different.
nostr:npub1ahqj3ek7s7lrt4ygsthymx0j0vqunam8vc6ejhn9qn7037prm0pq83wjwd I disagree. Trumpism has grown beyond Trump but it’s just everyone’s worst instincts. It’s not an ideology.
No one is going to replace him. He was a unique combo of complex insecurities and empty bravado. Unless they nominate some other wacko celebrity. Even the crazy politicians have no game when it comes to showmanship. They’re all lame.
I think fascism will be a threat long after him but that’s different.
MAGAts will respond in one of two ways to Trump’s legal troubles. One, the indictments are flimsy, the accusations unsubstantiated, and they are going to relish drinking the tears of liberals. Two, it’s a big conspiracy by the deep state to illegally prohibit Trump from succeeding.
At no point is guilt even considered and the don’t even want to know the facts. They are beyond truth.
It’s all either a pathetic joke or a tragic miscarriage of justice.
nostr:npub155w2mpwukwy9qyeyphrnv7qj5qkdvcmpuj08mdmpsm4aml9zf3wqxt57rn I don’t even understand his justification for saying this. Article III of the Constitution establishes the federal judiciary. Article III, Section I states that "The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish." Although the Constitution establishes the Supreme Court, it permits Congress to decide how to organize it.
How is that not blatantly clear?
Beach day!
nostr:npub1xpcqmx422lf6cm6nzup53vfsfvyz7pjfarwdklj3apxaggjtdqmqg03t05 saw this. loved this. Nearly made me cry. Especially since Philly fans get such a bad wrap.
nostr:npub1wcuzydjascw8h7f9wr5f6d9z3mw7q8774ess7azvquse9dk70xlq8q9j6s I’ll defend Philly fans forever. If you don’t know you don’t know.
This is a clip of a thing that happened tonight. It’s just a home run. Nothing special. Except it is.
Trey Turner is a $400M player that hasn’t been playing to his paycheck. He’s been in a terrible slump. But rather than boo him, which is what we’d normally do, Philly decided to lift him up. Starting yesterday, every time he came to plate he got a standing ovation, cheering him on.
Tonight was no different, so with two on, he cranked one to deep left. #Phillies #MLB
This is going to be in my head for awhile.
