Big debate going on over on X about H-1Bs and what drives why there are so many of them.
From my experience working in the #software industry for over 25+ years and most of that time for a company that many of you probably carried around in your pocket. That company was hit with a penalty for hiring too many H-1Bs. From what I saw the H-1Bs were definitely not more qualified for the positions they filled but they were much cheaper from seeing what they were paid.
Big #tech wants you to believe its because there isn't enough qualified engineers to fill the positions but working on a campus of over 13,000 people for a company that employed over 150,000 that is not what my experience was.
