Federations can have multiple gateways and they can join at any time. Not an easy way to display which ones they are using and which ones is selected but that's something we could maybe add in the future.
No limit, decoupled. You can swap to LN at any time.

Tested multiple times and can't reproduce the issue. If you downgrade back to the previous TestFlight version, does it work?

We recommend getting your sats off before switching mints. You might forget, the mint might delist, shut down, etc. But if you join it again, you'll still have your balance there.

If they fail, they go away.
All ecash is backed up across all federations. However, we mostly recommend against it for the reason described above.
If you forgot the federation you were in, if they delisted, if they shut down, etc.
