From what I'm understanding, so far: it's a 3rd layer bitcoin application on the lightning network, that allows low friction, private, offline/online payments. There's the third party involved as the "mint", but you can also be the mint and then you're the third party. If it's necessary for bitcoin? No. Although it is another interesting option that may or may not catch on. Lightning network definitely did catch on as a 2nd layer (it's also potential third party involved, but you don't see many sceptics anymore).

Yeah I already looked into that. I just won't do it before I learn a bit more about it. I'm thinking of eventually runnig a mint. Using ecash seems pretty easy, not sure about running a mint. It definitely caught my attention, so I want to learn more. Thanks for the link π

I don't run a Bitcoin node, since I don't have a desktop pc or a laptop or a special device or spare cash to buy anything (always decided against it to stack more sats instead). I have seen some options to run a pruned node on an Android mobile device (ABCore). Does anyone have any experience using it? Is it worth it? Is it safe? Pros and cons? If anyone has some opinions please share. I'd appreciate any help.

Has anyone noticed that Bitcoin has been going up 1% every day on average this year in dollar terms. It's been 51 days this year so far and bitcoin gained 51% YTD. 31 December 2023 - 365% up in a year?? Not impossible
