people are saying bad things about nostr but the reality is that most of the users are pretty hard core cypherpunks, many of them are devs themselves, and if not devs, then fairly technical, at least administrator level skills.

a big part of the traffic i see apart from the general chitchat is technical discussions about protocol development, technical support, bug hunting and feature requests.

no silo platform system can match the percentage of advanced users at this critical stage.

nostr is built by the geeks, for the geeks, and the rest of you all, be patient, construction ongoing.

i'm changing my arrangement right now, found a VPS host in romania that takes LN payments... i'll be running my wireguard vpn through it, as well as my NIP-05.

there is some serious security problems arising with internet protocols these days with so much aggressive hacking going on.

hopefully there will be no problem, i'll drop a message on this thread later if there is a problem.

thanks :D

if Artificial Intelligence is making dumb machines smart.

then Artificial Stupidity would be making smart people dumb.

this is what all cults do to the minds of their followers.

#cultstr

fuck reddit. nest of AS drones controlled by drone cult leaders. AS as in Artificial Stupidity.

they know those retractions make no difference or else they would be on the front page, and they'd look bad and it would make a difference.

they never change their opinion, that's just a smokescreen.

i've always felt that the i should be ae. archaepeligo. i bet i am just using latin spelling.

a clue that may help, intellij (the engine of android studio) produces a GUI based on the java engine running it. you probably can tweak it to use a different java engine that targets wayland as you wish it to.

i have no idea though, honestly, but for sure the most recent version of Goland ran way way nicer on openjdk 17, at least, not sure if the intellij backend of android studio that you want to use is going to be good with it, or if it will support wayland properly as you are trying to achieve.

i've quit using jetbrains stuff now though. to be honest it was getting irritatingly unstable already a year ago and they still haven't got the new UI working nice and old versions don't play nice with faster java runtimes either, so i'm back to vscode... a few minor niggles but i'm generally happier with it to be honest.

i'm a wayland disrespecter though, full disclosure. i just find that wayland has way too many glitches. with various versions of gnome i was getting garbage and flickering on screen, crashes, freezes, wrong colours, compositing problems on themes, and not to mention that the entire gnome 4 series is just a bucket of shit, i honestly can't comprehend why they had to change the theme engine at all, cos now when i run gnome 4 anything it's a dog's breakfast of dark, light, and various old window frames on almost everything.

so i run cinnamon now, it's the only one that sticks to the good gtk, version 3.

my internet is now.... 1.21 JIGABITS

i will be able to travel back in time at last.

there's just no need for them, they aren't reducing the carbon output because they have more steps of transformation of energy that each one has less efficiency than a modern diesel engine.

size of the battery matters a lot, because the amount of time it's gonna burn for increases at least linearly with mass. once all the lithium oxide is formed it's not going to be dangerous any more.

and besides all that, we have the lowest amount of CO2 in the atmosphere we have measured in ice cores dating back thousands and thousands of years.

well, the difference is that the government's policy can make it more likely to be seized by law rather than greed.

which is more likely to actually happen? assuming the business is already taking a cut and accounts that in their business plan as being sufficient for operations.

a few bad operators in a company, a bad company, or a already well known bad government?

i'd rather take a risk on a few bad operators.

i'd rather not take a risk at all, beyond that, but if it's trivial/testing then it doesn't matter so much.

if i was running a business, i'd be self custody all the way for the business. this is one of the benefits of bitcoin, no bank trusting required. only the risk of bad devs/techs/administrators
