Got to bed at 4am last night after some network upgrades at work (2nd time this week..). Woke up this morning to find out some services weren’t working correctly following the upgrades and now on a P1 WebEx with the Cisco TAC as looks like it might be a bug… #networkengineerlife
I don’t know yet, it’s been a very busy week with work so I haven’t made any plans. I’ve got the whole week off next week though so hopefully a bit of time to relax.
That’s a huge amount of traffic!
Yeah I’m definitely looking forward to the warmer weather!
Afternoon walk 🌞
Steak, egg, bacon, onion, sauce and another piece of toast on top to make a steak sandwich.
I understand this feeling! I’ve been busy with work recently so haven’t been posting very much and now don’t really feel like I have anything interesting to post about..
Literally can't keep my hands off my network. Just ordered a couple of pretty sweet upgrades for the #homelab. Pretty stoked about it. Come to Mama! :)
TP-Link TL-SG3428X-M2 | 24 Port Multi-Gigabit L2+ Managed Switch | 24 x 2.5 Gig Ethernet Ports, 4 x 10 Gig SFP+ Ports | 10 G Bandwidth | Support Omada SDN

Note: The TL- name has been dropped with the new models as select Jetstream switches become Omada. It's the same device with a different brand and firmware numbers.

I bought the 8 x 2.5G with 2 x SFP+ equivalent of that switch a little while back (SG3210X-M2) mainly because I wanted some 2.5G ports with the SFP+ for uplink to my 10G switch. I’m not using any of the advanced features or the Omada management stuff but for basic switching and VLANs etc it has worked well.
can someone explain how bitcoin mainnet or LN can still work over there ? no political comment or activism - just shoot feasible technical answers ok. looks like SEED / PRIVKEY will be sitting duck until normalcy returns or work intermittently from ISP who still land/sat uplinks partly operational.

Any OFFLINE TX technology ? SATSCHIP

Data from the IODA project shows there was a complete drop (no prefixes seen via BGP) from AS43852 but looks like it has since been restored. I think it would depend on how well any other ISPs in the area were still functioning or availability of satellite connectivity as to how usable Bitcoin/LN were during the outage.
I think it is an eastern bearded dragon but I’m not 100% sure. That is the one that is common in the area.
Found on my morning walk today 🦎
Interesting presentation that gives some technical insight into how Starlink works, what it is good at and what the limitations are.
Looks like a nice location! I’ll have to go there one day although I’m not too keen on coming across the snakes..
I think the reality for a lot of employees, at least in IT related fields like I am, is that they could negotiate a better salary by moving to another company than staying where they are relying on small yearly incremental pay increases. There are other factors to consider obviously and I know people who have made that sort of move and discovered the grass isn’t always greener getting more money but worse conditions or culture..
Very sad. I’d heard that there were a few people living in tents there recently but hadn’t driven past to see it..
It means that it is as little as they can get away with paying at current market rates for someone to do the role. But it is probably more than they are paying some employees who have been with the company for many years doing the same role so they don’t want to make the salary known and have to pay them more too.

There is a nice looking desktop style case for the Heltec devices here. I haven’t tried it myself yet and it’s not a free download, but I know one the guys in our local Meshtastic group here has used it and is happy with it.
