It actually wasn’t too bad when I went to the shops earlier. It will probably be busier this afternoon though.

Thanks Marie, you too! I think it’s going to be a pretty busy day for me tomorrow, visiting relatives for both lunch and dinner!

Two years ago I joined Nostr. It has been an interesting two years watching this protocol develop, the clients becoming more advanced and stable, and all of the “other stuff” that has been built.

With Nostr I’ve found a place I can freely share things than interest me and have found some amazing people with similar interests and views on life. Unlike other social media, I’ve found that Nostr isn’t a place where some people create content and others consume whatever the algorithm pushes. Interactions on Nostr are much more authentic, there are many deep discussions going on about a range of different topics, and plenty of humour. It actually has the social component that most other “social” media has lost.

Thank you to all the developers, relay operators, media host operators and everyone who posts on here for making this place possible. It will be very interesting to see what the next two years brings!

Some nearby Christmas lights 🎄

Just dig some extra holes and you can have as many skylights as you want for natural light! 😂

I’ve only been there on a holiday as a child but it was an interesting place to visit. The heat wasn’t too much of a problem but there were too many flies!

My understanding of quantum computers and quantum networks is very limited at the moment but it’s something I think I’ll spend some time on to try and at least understand the basics.

Quantum teleportation over existing optical fibre infrastructure. I don’t really understand how this works or the implications but it seems like cool technology.

Is the USB mod so that it can act as a keyboard or does it do more than that?

Hi Sarah, Welcome to #Nostr! I’m from Adelaide. There is an #AUstriches hash tag that you might want to use for anything you post relevant to aussies and to see what some of the other aussies on here are posting!

Potentially a death sentence for many small scale farms across Australia, ours included

All the recalls I remember seeing have been for the pre-packaged salad rubbish sold in supermarkets. That is very different to the small producers who often take a lot of pride and care in what they do to sell a quality product. This sounds like it will just make it more expensive and more difficult to buy quality, fresh fruit and veg.

Thanks. It is probably overkill but it’s a fun project!

Internet failover testing for my new node.

I’ve solved the Internet failover issue I was having by using a virtual router running on a cheap VPS. Internet traffic for my node will be routed over 2 x VPN tunnels from my home routers to this virtual router, one VPN tunnel over each Internet service. BGP running over the VPN tunnels allows for rapid failover. Ping testing shows only two ping packets dropped when the primary link goes down, the jump in latency is due to traffic going over a fixed wireless link instead of fibre. This should mean that all channels stay up in the event of an Internet service outage.

The VPS does become a single point of failure but I think this is less likely to go down for an extended period of time than the home Internet services. nostr:note1fl0xj3h2t7wwwj56vuj2axplg66z2t9jdngxvugu3xjx2u6x7qhspwdn0g

Sparkling water flavoured with native Australian ingredients. No sugar or other artificial sweeteners or flavours. They taste good and seem like a much better alternative to sugary drinks or consuming too much alcohol at this time of year.
