18 April 1870 | A Jewish man, Salamon Kornbaum, was born. During the war he lived in Sighetu Marmației / Máramarossziget.
In May 1944 he was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.

14 February 1894 | A Polish woman, Anna Nędza, was born in Mszana Dolna.
In #Auschwitz from 29 January 1943.

12 February 1910 | A Hungarian Jewish woman, Blanka Krausz, was born. She was a piano teacher.
In 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.

12 February 1920 | A German Jewish woman, Hildegard Rheinstein, was born in Frankfurt am Main.
On 16 September 1942 she was deported to the Theresienstadt ghetto, from where she was deported to #Auschwitz on 23 October 1944. She did not survive.

In #Auschwitz from 24 January 1943.

29 January 1943 | The RSHA ordered the deportation of all Roma people from Germany and German-occupied territories to Auschwitz. At least 23,000 Sinti & Roma were later deported there. Most were murdered.

17 January 1900 | Greek Jew, Joseph Agi, was born in Thessaloniki. He emigrated to France and got French nationality.
He was deported to #Auschwitz in the first transport of Jews from occupied France on 27 February 1942.

11 January 1914 | Irish Jewish woman of Czech origin Esther (Ettie) Steinberg was born.
In Dublin she married Vogtjeck Gluck & moved first to Antwerp & then to Paris. On 2 September 1942 the couple was deported to Auschwitz with their son Léon. None of them survived.


16 December 1937 | A Dutch Jewish boy, Max Henri van Son, was born in Rotterdam.
He arrived at #Auschwitz on 3 October 1942 in a transport of 1,014 Jews deported from Westerbork. He was murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.

22 November 1880 | A Dutch Jew, Edgar Alvares Correa, was born in Curaçao (constituent country of the Netherlands).
He arrived at Auschwitz on 25 March 1944 in a transport of 599 Jews deported from #Westerbork. He was murdered in a gas chamber after selection.

24 May 1911 | A Polish woman, Helena Nowak, was born in Radom. A tailor.
In Auschwitz from 22 January 1943.

24 May 1940 | A Dutch Jewish boy, Philip Cohen, was born in Amsterdam.
He arrived at #Auschwitz on 18 February 1943 in a transport of 1,108 Jews deported from Westerbork. He was among 847 of them murdered in gas chambers after the selection.

24 May 1930 | A French Jewish girl, Tova Zarcon, was born in Paris.
On 20 January 1944 she was deported from Drancy to Auschwitz. She did not survive.

10 May 1939 | A French Jewish girl, Monique Cofman, was born in Mont-Saint-Aignan.
She arrived at Auschwitz on 8 November 1942 in a transport of 1,000 Jews deported from Drancy. She was among 773 of them murdered in gas chambers after the selection.

12 March 1940 | A Dutch Jewish girl, Esther Lijmer, was born in Amsterdam.
In January 1943 she was deported from Westerbork to Auschwitz with her mother Naatje. Both were murdered in a gas chamber.

12 March 1939 | A French Jewish boy, Roger Portigheis, was born in Nice.
He arrived at Auschwitz on 20 December 1943 in a transport of 850 Jews deported from Drancy. He was among 505 people murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.

12 March 1866 | A Slovak Jew, Franz Weisz, was born.
In Auschwitz from 24 October 1941.

He perished in the camp three days later.

12 March 1912 | Polish Jewish woman Ala Gertner was born in Będzin. She was incarcerated in Auschwitz in August 1943. She worked in „Union” munition factory from where together with other women she smuggled gunpowder to Sonderkommando resistance. She was hanged on 6 January 1945.

12 March 1903 | A Slovenian, Josef Sitter, was born in Šentjakob. A car mechanic.
In Auschwitz from 28 September 1941.
