So, we have metrics for roughness and hardness, is there a unit or metric to measure ‘softness’?

Odd how providing a good product encourages people to pay for it instead of producing such a shit product that people are willing to Pirate it who would have guessed?

nostr:npub1ux2crkcx39gllak7tj5302uf5u4j4ger5p3eyl56dtv4qr44v97s6d5jws I actually find all of this unironically fascinating, and I always liked astrophysics and shit like that when I was a teenager, and kinda wanted to pursue it.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to do so because my family didn't have the financial means to support me through a shitty college and shit like that, so I basically work ever since high school. Maybe it was for the best.
The weird thing is that nowadays, with the ubiquity of the internet and easiness of access to information, it would be feasible to pursuit these kinds of interests as an amateur in a hobbyist way. 12 year old me would absolutely freak out if he had access to the stuff I have now. But unfortunately, the science camps are so gay and so polluted by redditors and people with reddit-tier mentality that it kills any will I have to interact with it.
nostr:npub1jj5ffqvev09736qg30cpyhchkn9n5x2hjrtdqjuds7f3q2mkd8wsen3am4 14 year old me was just glued to space documentaries. My granddad had discovery channel and I'd always watch it when I was visiting. I was also the worlds smuggest prick in school because I'd already watched most of that year's syllabus on television
nostr:npub1ux2crkcx39gllak7tj5302uf5u4j4ger5p3eyl56dtv4qr44v97s6d5jws I was watching a couple videos about neutron stars earlier this week, and I found everything very interesting, on how it's so dense that it distorts the light that passes nearby it so when being observed by the front you can see part of the backside, and how its gravity is so high that the nuclei of its atoms fuse with each other, and how all this makes the star spin uncontrollably fast and creates electromagnetic pulses on its poles and shit like that.
The videos just don't explain exactly how all those conclusions were reached, because those stars are insanely far from here and they are only observable by telescopes that gather radiation signals and, frankly, it seems that most of this stuff is just conjunctures created by researchers in an attempt to explain things, not unlike old civilizations creating gods and mythos for the same purposes.
