Does anybody want to test this out?

With this feature, you can mint USD-pegged ecash with your LNMarkets account as a back-end. When a user decides to mint ecash, they will be required to pay a Lightning Network invoice equivalent to the US dollar amount in satoshis.

As for redemption, the user provides a Lightning Network invoice, and the minting system fetches the current exchange rate from LNMarkets' futures ticker. It then calculates the corresponding US dollar ecash value for the payment quote.

Error messages are a bit all over the place. The documentation itself is not very clear about them, either. I will work to improve them.

Not been feeling too well, lately.

I investigated this and it seemed to be an error in the client. Like you said it treated the USD amount as if it were SATs. I have published a PR on cashu.me repo that should take care of the issue, but there is not much I can do about minibits.

Nostr can offer a use case of storing ecash somewhere safe where it's much difficult to lose it. This whould make all the wallet recovery shenanigans obsolete.

You can pay any lightning invoice, so yes you can redeem usd e-cash to pay a lightning invoice of a sats mint.

When you present tokens for an amount of 5$, the mint pays you the equivalent amount in sats at the current exchange rate: right now that would be 8217 sats.
