The idea of an ecash credit card that you can just swipe and pay with is very tantalizing.
The only real problem? A savvy merchant could record all your unspent secrets and spend them later if you forget to swap them back.
Not anything a grocery store or anyone that wants to maintain their reputation would do.
I think we are very close to having fully functional discreet log contracts on mints.

Unsurprisingly.
My mint (Smiley Cash) is now publishing every mint and burn event on nostr using kind 4919 (still unreserved).
It uses the public key exposed on the /v1/info endpoint as nostr identity. So if you want to find the notes you need to filter by pubkey and kind 4919.
If this ever happens we'd see a hard fork attempt to try and recover the funds which will most likely result in another bitcoin cash situation where they lose value immediately against the real BTC.
Lnmarkets. It connects to my account with their API and uses deposits, withdrawals which are ln payments. It's very neat because you can run a USD mint without having to KYC.
It's the backend the mint is running on. Experimental. I have a PR open on nutshell.
Melts with less than 1000 are not allowed be cause lnmarkets does not allow withdrawals of less than 1000sat :(
