Empty skies. The swallows have left for the south. Let’s hope we see them back next year. #ClimateDiary #MigratoryBirds

While a big fan of rewilding: letting grass grow. A tool I use a lot is the Husquvarner brushcutter - it makes organic field management possible (and yes, before you ask we have a scythe & use it regularly but the brush cutter does thistles/path-clearing much more efficiently than the scythe). Today’s problem is that the little plastic connector that catches the pull-back on the starter cable has broken. Can’t find one online anywhere😡. Have emailed suppliers. #Mend #Fix #Smallholding #organic

nostr:npub1afhatsxx55f76s8vu5gs4gsvdyvpslnzq82daz7djurmnvfcnqgqrn4l67 The issues with road side trees are winter salt and glyphosate… not so easy as a garden tree. Good luck with the stone! Let us know if it germinates could take 18 months or more.

nostr:npub1afhatsxx55f76s8vu5gs4gsvdyvpslnzq82daz7djurmnvfcnqgqrn4l67 If you have taken plum trees out look for layerings and suckers coming up from the base. They do grow from the roots very easily.

nostr:npub194t9dx325eynclrwt8ag8cte8k49k9ssyepj5u8txur3psepwkuq8td8az Look after yourself in all of this. Been there and it was really tough, so go easy on yourself and I hope you get something soon.

nostr:npub1afhatsxx55f76s8vu5gs4gsvdyvpslnzq82daz7djurmnvfcnqgqrn4l67 If It germinates there’s no reason it wouldn’t fruit. Just be aware of potential final tree size. Our old apple trees are enormous and picking is a challenge. This is the real benefit of a dwarfing rootstock.

Dog walk two views from the same point in the path. We need sunscreen going forward and raincoats for going back! #Scotland #dogs #photography #weather

Blaeberries in the rain and nettles. Going to have to come back with gloves and clear up round this bush. #Work #Smallholding #Fruit

View from the gate: rain approaching. We are to have #thunderstorms tomorrow. #BattenDownTheHatches
