Can you read the notes on my profile? What do you know about me?
Hi nostr:npub1hg5g87620a3vhpgmna2pzevhj88lkt3lezus76p7u5y37sfcszsszktya9 I came back to check on you and this was the first thing I read. This is wild.
This is an essay I wrote a while back. It explores some of these concepts, timelines and my thoughts about what may actually happen. https://undefined.scribbble.co/posts/phase-4
Kudos on writing a whole essay on this. Thanks for sharing. Will take a look.
I like it. Thank you. Will read up on this too.
One of my favorite explorations of Fermi Paradox by Tim Urban: https://waitbutwhy.com/2014/05/fermi-paradox.html
He’s great. He just published a book.
100% on your first point. I also believe our definition of “life” is limited in that it’s entirely self referential. Something can exist but we are unable to perceive it.
First time hearing of Drake’s equation too and you seem to have summed it up nicely. It’s conjecture.
“The nominator is a minimum value of 1, because we exist.” Very poetic.
It’s my first time hearing about these. I think both have good logic to support them and I agree it’s something to think about.
On this topic I haven’t yet found anything that fully resonates for me. But clearly I haven’t looked very hard.
What do you mean by “it?”
lol same
Yes I know. I recognized it. It’s a skill to put it in your own words. And it’s a skill to apply it to 2023.
You’re a very good writer and clearly a skilled conceptual thinker.
I agree completely. I particularly like your description of the imagined utopia of “organic human flourishing.” As you say, that’s debatable.
These are not my words but I agree with them:
The civilization-level issue I'm most concerned with is the ongoing, slow motion collapse of our collective sensemaking capabilities. Our biggest and most costly coordination failures are downstream of this problem.
I disagree lol. So agree to disagree for now.
I’m signing off now. Nice talking to you as always. Ttyl.
