This is a pretty good point. Bitcoin is built to be accountable, which is at odds with privacy goals. Lightning is a good addition of complexity, but without guarantees.

I feel like Bitcoin is appropriately built for use by governments and institutions, which allows the people to sousveil activity. This is an extremely important feature as Bitcoin grows in adoption.

For more privacy-oriented money, scalability and trading liquidity are essential along with mathematical privacy guarantees.
