I'm not sure what's wrapped btc on eth.
MSTR
How about real Bitcoin 👀
Its pretty unfair really. Michael Saylor can borrow pretty much endless amount to buy bitcoin. The average person on the street they mention bitcoin and risk having their bank account frozen.
I haven't actually bought any Monero. Will need to buy some to see how it works. 👍
Amazing thing about bitcoin is the company can claim to have gotten into an unfortunate boating accident and lost its keys.
Apple, Berkshire hathaway don't have such a defence. The bank account/ assets get frozen and taken.
Yeah its very unlikely government go after companies, untill something as crazy like this actually happens. No boating accident will protect apple, buffet.
Bitcoin is cool 😎
Being able to track on blockchain is definitely double edged sword. Would I want nationstates adopting monero vs bitcoin. I'm picking bitcoin. Because monero is so private nationstates will definitely be up to no good. Its gonna be more difficult for nationstates to get up to their typical shenanigans with bitcoin. Monero is a nationstates dream made in heaven. They can hide what they do.
Using bitcoin exposes the individual when being oppressed by a government or other person organisation etc. in which case use Monero.
Not sure how useful the tracking ability of bitcoin has been used practically when funds stolen due to compromised key.
I'd like to see Monero stay small enough so nationstates can't adopt it. Bitcoin is getting big enough to use at nationstate level.
If Monero stays small enough then out of the reach of the nationstate, but can be freely used by individual to protect themselves, then that's the perfect scenario for me. I don't want nationstates to have the protection Monero gives, nationsates are corrupt.
I think Monero definitely has a place. I don't call it a shitcoin.
You've got half a chance to catch the person if you can track it.
I wouldn't totally give up on bitcoin, hope u haven't sold it all for monero. Monero may well have a place in the future, but don't sell all your bitcoin.
Yes bitcoin does have privacy issues, but it doesn't mean it won't be the most dominant form of money in the future.
If my electronic money was stolen from me, then I'd wish I'd held it in bitcoin. Atleast I could try to somewhat track and see where its gone.
Monero not great.
If I was being persecuted by a government that wouldn't let me act the way I wanted to, and there was a need to hide my transactions better than bitcoin, I'm using monero or some other form of privacy tool.
I know this sounds really boring, but channel islands, Guernsey, Jersey is an option.
Ion Joe Nakamoto recently did video. I'm exploring it currently.
I'm looking to leave UK tax system. So need to check on the cons of doing this as you mentioned UK tax system might start to reaching out to non UK tax residents. Not entirely sure how thry could do this?
Did you create a new npub?
You know you can use your nsec across all NOSTR apps?
I explain it here:
https://habla.news/u/mhardcastle@nostrplebs.com/1725913455892
I did create a new npub. I'm abit para when I use a new platforms. First time I heard of 0xchat, seems pretty legit. Could add my original npub.
Yes, that's pretty much my understanding too, as long as I dont become a UK tax resident for atleadt 5 years.
In my circumstances (everyone needs to check their own circumstances) I can visit the UK for upto 90 days / year otherwise risk becoming a UK tax resident again.
I will need get professional advice to make sure plan of action is clear. You scared me when you said we need to pay 24% CGT if leaving the UK tax system.
If we were to leave UK tax system, they can change the rules retroactively. So I'm not sure how they could make life worse for non UK tax residents?
I suppose they could in theory change rules and say we not allowed to hold UK passport. So its essential to have 2nd passport incase this happens. But unlikely for this to happen in the near future.
My heart goes out to you ❤ such a terrible thing to lose bitcoin keys in a boating accident.
I need to book a boating trip. Preferably a boat with a hole in it, a hole just big enough to swallow up my bitcoin keys. 🙊
24% CGT tax is only if you sell assets while a UK tax resident. Thats right I believe?
So we could move to eg. Barbados and become tax resident in Barbados sell assets in the next UK tax year ( assets that were bought while you were in a UK tax resident), but because we are no longer a UK tax resudent when selling assets we pay no tax to UK.
That's my current understanding, is that correct?
How do you become a tax resident in Barbados?
Slowly people will realise after each cycle Bitcoin only is the safest way to store your wealth. This is my second proper cycle.
My first cycle In 2017 bullrun I actually lost money (I didn't know what I was doing, I pretend I wasn't there 🙈). Bitcoin went up from low to high 20 X. What a missed opportunity.
I learned my lesson.
Bitcoin only. 💯
Thanks Mike, I've just created an account, I've requested to join non-dom group

I've heard figures of 100m users, but I think u right its more towards 20m, info based on number of wallets, most users have multiple wallets etc. difficult to gauge.
Based on personal experience 1 or 2 people I know have bought bitcoin.
We are so so early. Get busy stacking. ✊
