Spinal Tap is a great movie ๐Ÿ˜‚

Welcome, nice photo ๐Ÿ˜‚

If you'd like some help about this weird protocol we call NOSTR I wrote some guides here:

https://habla.news/u/mhardcastle@nostrplebs.com

I would start with this one here for some basic concepts:

https://habla.news/u/mhardcastle@nostrplebs.com/1724842277970

If you have questions, the tagย #asknostrย is a good place to start.

If you want to write a brief hello, use theย #introductionsย hashtag to allow people to find and welcome you.

Enjoy freedom speech and money.

Itโ€™s about time you learned some ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™ve always wanted a dedicated place to eat cheese ๐Ÿ˜‚

So I'm having a look at your relays (if you'd like some amateur advice) and I can see you have quite a few. Also one is configured in error (the 3rd from bottom):

You really only need a few relays (unless you want specific content from specific relays).

You publish to your outbox relay, when people see you they make a note of your relay and if they follow you, they will query your primary relay for your posts. You may want a secondary relay as a backup, but that's it.

You discover others by either searching for content or by seeing reposts from existing follows.

Having too many relays can slow you down or add additional load to your client. If you look at my relay config, which you can do from most clients. You can see I only have 5.

I publish to my own relay https://nortis.nostr1.com/trex

I pay for a large central relay https://nostr.wine/

I use wss://hist.nostr.land/ to backup my follows

and because I use the Damus client a lot, that relay is also included: wss://relay.damus.io/

Note to self, I should really delete the wss://relay.getalby.com/v1 relay ๐Ÿ˜‚

If you get into specific groups or topics you may wish to add relevant relays, but that's it. It's that simple (at this stage at least).

Do you think they mean chaise longue? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I didnโ€™t want the post I wrote a while back to get lost in the annals of time.

Also, youโ€™re going to make a filthy joke about the last part of that sentence ๐Ÿ˜‚

No, I just published it as a long form article.

Patrick Duffy was real, he was also in Dallas ๐Ÿ˜‚

I like this picture ๐Ÿซก

Not if we decentralise it ๐Ÿ˜‚

NOSTR the shit out of all centralised services ๐Ÿ’œ

I donโ€™t have a choice my house and out buildings were cabled in 2007 as it was being rebuilt. Unless I want to run ugly ducting on the outside of my beautiful costwold stone house, Iโ€™m stuck with it ๐Ÿ˜‚

Alongside the โ€œonline safety actโ€ the trajectory of UK government intent to control is very clear

Yes, I heard about this.

I'll only be leaving the UK once a year, for about 9 months ๐Ÿ˜‚

If it gets too bad, I may not come back.

You won't be disappointed.

Full refund if you're not entirely satisfied ๐Ÿ˜‚

I had to Google Hellenistic and I still don't get the joke ๐Ÿ˜‚

I was slightly joking about the dirty mags, I was more making the point that protecting kids from things we think they shouldn't see never worked.

But I'm also not joking, I was definitely friends with one guy who had access to his dads magazine collection.

Personally, I was mostly in the cool kid groups and hovered at the bottom of the top set for most of my school days, leaving curious to understand what the hell school was all about. Adults kept trying to tell me stuff without explaining why, so I didn't bother listening.

It was only when I left school that I really started learning.
