I wish the Keybase team would finally open source the server component so that Keybase can continue to live and thrive. I use it every day for messaging and love both kbfs and the integrated encrypted git. Zoom acquiring Keybase back in 2020 was a death blow but Keybase somehow continues to live on (for now).
First PR to LND submitted this week. Hopefully the first of many.
The Lightning network instantly makes most other L1s completely obsolete.
Diving into the LND rabbit hole has been fun.
Had I started my #LightningNetwork node from scratch I would run LND or CLN manually. A much cleaner setup than Umbrel, Raspiblitz, etc. Easy to compile, run, configure and keep up to date.
Just don’t look at the source code
Been looking for a fun part time project to pick up for a while. Stumbled upon a few bugs in lnd so here we go!
After rebuilding my node I’m seeing a lot more forwarding with fewer but larger (5-10M) channels than I did before with 120+ smaller (2-5M) channels.
#[0] Hey! Up for a balanced channel?
Only partially. Docker containers only provide partial separation. It’s not like a VM. Your container shares kernel with the host. There have been numerous other container escape vulnerabilities throughout the years as well.
Sure. If we suffer a global catastrophic EMP attack then a) my relay would probably be hit, and b) my Nostr notes is the last thing I’ll care about
Nostr is a protocol, not a social media platform. Time will tell what will be built on top of it.
Fair enough, but any internet facing service is potentially another attack vector. If someone compromised your Umbrel node through a vulnerability in the nostr relay, your sats would be at risk.
This is my reasoning as well. Also, relays currently don’t communicate with each other so you setting up another relay doesn’t really strength the collective network.
I think with time we will see new use cases around relays as various services are built on top of nostr.
To L2ARC or not. That is the question.
