Fiat mining = credit creation.

Had a temporary network issue earlier today. Apologies for the force closures.

Same here! Been a Fedora user for a decade now.

Yeah, but it’s not like Ubuntu or Fedora suffers from an unstable desktop environment. :)

Debian is all about stability. Meaning, you’ll lag behind updates to DE and other packages that desktop systems typically benefit from having relatively speedy updates to. Generally, the stability vs features trade off makes more sense in a server environment but to each their own :)

Why Debian? I love Debian but it’s definitely suited for servers rather than laptops/desktop.

Hmm. This does not seem like a fully featured LN node implementation. It also relies on Polar for some reason.

Your Lightning network node contains many secrets that are important to protect. One of them are your revocation keys.

One fundamental vulnerability of the Lightning Network is the possibility of losing or leaking the secret revocation keys. If a malicious actor gains access to the revocation key, they can use it to steal all the funds in the payment channel, making this a highly sensitive secret. Similarly, if a revocation key is lost, it can result in the loss of funds that could have been recovered in case of a revoked transaction.

Thanks for the zap #[0]

Coinbase is integrating with the Lightning Network. About time!

Made a neat little website and api library to map out the NodeNor Lightning network community.

I actually really like Safari but since I work mostly on Linux it’s just easier to stick with Firefox. Obviously, being open source is always a plus and I much prefer it over Chrome

#Bitcoin #LightningNetwork protip: if you’re on LND, the channel.db will grow over time. It contains records of all payments both attempted, failed and successful. This can really impact node performance (in addition to storage). LND has APIs that let’s you delete them, but it’s easier to just use bos. `bos clean-failed-payments` and restart your node and you might see a dramatic performance increase.

If you choose to open up a channel to a large node with a ton of exhausted channels (1ML being one example), any payment route involving your node will be negatively impacted, since all of the channels of nodes you have channels with must be evaluated.

Did you know that in the #LightningNetwork the path finding is done by the sender? As a routing node you have no saying in what path a payment takes through the network. However, what channels you choose to open affects the performance of the network in a lot of ways.
