Did a presentation yesterday with ego death team to over 80 funds, family offices, and high net worth individuals. All smart and curious. Just caught in the wrong frame of reference - like we all were at one point.

…And….Every time I do a presentation, talk or meeting (outside of #nostr ) it reinforces how unbelievably early we are on this journey.

One of the reasons, I was early and so intrigued with the internet, is that the smartest people I knew were moving their time to it. (Before it was captured by broken money)

The same thing playing out on the #bitcoin protocol with a massive added plus…..Not only the smartest/most curious people, but generally those with a high level of integrity and aligned values.

Going all in on Bitcoin was the most important decision of my life. Not for the money it would become, nor for the purpose and meaning that it would deliver to me, but because it was a decision that was truly mine.

The whole world and everyone in it has ideas of who you are suppose to be, and most of the time we conform with that in some way or another. While I did not know it at the time, I knew in my heart of hearts that Bitcoin not only had a chance to save me from a life of mind-numbing pointless work, and nihilistic existence; but more than that, it allowed for me to believe in what I saw for myself, and my own understand of it before what everyone else was telling me. It let me stand up for myself against a world that just wanted to use me and keep me in the suppressed, small role it had relegated to me. Bitcoin allowed for me to decide something else against this system that could not see the light and love that I really am.

This decision came from my own strong conviction within myself that I knew from the deepest levels within me. Even though it seemed crazy, irrational, and like it wouldn’t work to everyone else; just like most major decisions that can change your life for the better, I knew it was what I had to do for myself. There are no other people who can make these kind of decisions for you, and that is why they are them in their lives and you are you in your life. Only you can make the decision for yourself about how your life is going to be, where you are going to put your energy and how you are going to save yourself against a world that wants to exploit you like a machine, and give you worthless paper in exchange for it. You can choose something else now, but that decision is on you alone.

While I cannot promise that you’ll get rich from Bitcoin, or even that it will be a profitable decision with your timing of the markets, you will learn to have a new kind of conviction and faith in yourself which is a kind of wealth in its own right. You will learn that you can decide to take a risk on your own thoughts and decisions, and that is worth something in and of itself.

Just some food for thought going into 2025.

While I have a big orchard (about 50 trees) I haven’t had a large garden in the last few years. After this last trip to the grocery store however, I really realized how much I’m getting fucked on subpar produce and products that I can grow and make much better for myself.

I plan on doing a larger garden next year, adding about a dozen chickens (got two nice coops and a good area for a chicken run) and maybe three or four goats if I’m feeling ambitious.

I know it’ll make traveling much more impractical and add about an hour more of chores each day, but I’m sick of making the trip to the store and losing so much on something that I’ve done much better before.

I feel like the goats and the chickens will be the real game changers. I’ll need to up my preserving and fermentation game, which isn’t bad, I just need to do more of it.

I just got a call from my bank. Asking me, if I wanted to sit down with them to discuss my financial options, and I basically just told them they are a stepping stone for me to get to Bitcoin, and I just used them as an on-ramp.

I can take very little credit for this astonishing accomplishment, of course, as my fund is powered primarily by #bitcoin and bitcoin proxies.

I wanted to share the reasons behind this shift as many have been asking. Three primary factors influenced this decision:

1. I hate making remote shows—I never want to do them again. These interviews need the intimacy of being in person.

2. Traveling constantly has been detrimental to my health and my family.

3. My commitments here with the football club and local community are growing.

So, the solution was clear: build a studio in the UK and produce the show locally.

We’ve secured a fantastic space in Soho, London, and we’re ready to go but given the limited number of Bitcoin guests available in the UK or those willing to fly in, it’s time to retire What Bitcoin Did.

Our new podcast will be similar in feel but will cover a broader range of topics. While some episodes will focus on Bitcoin (though less frequently), most will explore other interesting topics or people.

Having made nearly 900 episodes covering a wide range of #bitcoin topics and guests, we’re now aiming higher. By diversifying our content and guests, we hope to introduce more people to the concept of sound money through podcast osmosis. If we get this right, it will be a bigger show, if we get it wrong, well we tried.

For a long time I have felt there is a need to get out of the #bitcoin corner of the party. Real Bedford FC was a way of integrating sound money into a traditional business model. CheatCode purposely did not include Bitcoin in the title, so changing the show feels like a natural next step.

Sometimes when stuck in the #bitcoin landscape you can lose site of how other people in the world think, lose empathy for the complexities of the world. I have felt this. I'd come home from spending two weeks with Bitcoiners and be with friends and family locally and notice a distinct difference in how we see the world. As everything feels like it is going to shit, I feel like there is a bigger job to do now.

The Bitcoin podcast landscape is well served, from Marty and Odell to Natalie and Preston, from The Blue Collar guys to Stefan Livera and anyone I haven't mentioned. There’s no shortage of high-quality Bitcoin podcasts.

However, there seems to be some fatigue in the space, with similar guests and topics being revisited. With our new show we want to bring fresh perspectives and ideas, aligning with sound money where relevant—think of the shows we’ve had with the likes of Eric Weinstein and Michael Malice.

On a personal note, I’m need the challenge, test myself wider, get fit and find a good woman. I can't do this travelling all the time.

When I started the podcast my life was a shit show - divorced, coming off drugs, heading towards bankruptcy. I've had an incredible 7 years, travelled the world, made amazing friends and got to live my dream by buying my local football club.

To everyone who has helped us get this far - the guests, the listeners, the sponsors, we could not have done this without you. I am forever in your debt.

A lot of people don’t know my story about how I got into bitcoin so here it is…

I was a smart kid from sort of a rough background.

Always academically gifted, but never really applied myself.

I had a keen interest in mathematics and really excelled in school but had a hard time staying out of trouble.

I was in and out of juvie during my early adolescence. Nothing serious. Petty stuff underage drinking. Fighting. Resisting arrest etc…

Even though I had a rough home life I always had a close friend group that I could count on.

One of them got me a job as a janitor at a local college.

I was a lowly janitor but I still had my love for mathematics, so I used to sneak around and finish high level equations that people had left on the chalkboard.

One day a professor confronted me as I was writing an equation down. I told him to fuck off and ran away.

Then I got like mandated to do therapy with this old guy who was all wise and shit anyway I forget how the rest of the movie goes…

Then I got into bitcoin!

And that’s my story.

As a cypherpunk, one of the most intriguing problems for me is information madness.

Humans aren't designed to run at the pace current fiat clown world demands. Errors will just keep increasing - as individuals can't match the pressure to produce value and defend/monetize their output. Even if you stay afloat, those around you are under attack. They may be programmed and turned against you - it's just a matter of the information threshold needed to focus them.

AI is salvation. Thankfully, Bitcoin exists, so we only need to ensure AIs use it to compete for resources and interact with the analog world. Beyond that, we must avoid feeding LLMs our prejudices, anxieties, fears, lies and desire for dominance.

If we manage this, Utopia awaits for all. Short of that, Utopia will still happen (in any case) - it's just a question of for how many.
