I’ll remember this. Heard you can also shade your exterior unit as well to help in longevity and efficiency.
My current unit (5 ton) uses about 24k at start. Don’t remember much else. Can’t run it off any of my generators in an emergency.
I thought about window units but, not feasible location wise with where they have to go.
Nice. The guys will be out in the morning with two units A/C and heat pump. I’m going heat pump in all honesty. Really wanted to do geothermal, but, cost was wayyy too much for ROI.
In all the research I’ve done over the last few weeks, most A/C manufacturers have secondary/cheap lines under a different name made with the same parts, so, I’m just going middle of the road SEER2 rating 15 heat pump with 10 year warranty for parts and three year warranty for entire unit.
Current unit is 18 years old. Need something more efficient that also works and doesn’t cost me $500+ a visit from A/C guy. Capacitor and hard start fry every year and I’ve reach max capacity on hard start for the circuit. Have some projects coming up to make the house more efficient. Insulation and new ductwork.
