But this can also happen to me as a node operator with my channels due to force closes.

Of course, you have redundancy because you still have several channels, but the problem with the force closures still needs to be fixed so that the argument is given more weight.

I think Phoenix is a natural progression towards holders becoming noderunners and channel managers.

We can't expect the newly converted to suddenly start spinning up lightning nodes. Self-custody reinforced 1st and as they learn more then eventually they will open channels once they have a stack large enough to justify it.

It’s not a concise topic and people often don’t spend the time to teach people, or are poor educators. With everything in this space, there are tradeoffs. As a teacher myself, I would never ever try to teach everything there is about running a lightning node to a beginner. There’s a progression and a lot to tackle.

Custodied lightning sats will be the next big rugging. Not because of rehypothecation and bad actors in the space, but rather shotgun KYC. Start figuring it out.

Pro tip 1: If you're changing your Lightning address away from Wallet of Satoshi, you may want to add the relay wss://nostr.mutinywallet.com prior to updating your profile. This relay will blast your profile changes to most relays ensuring that your changes are seen by most users across Nostr. Otherwise, relays you don't use any longer may be left with your old profile data, Lightning address and will not be aware of your changes. This means you'll still receive Zaps to your old WoS address.

Pro tip 2: As for everyone else, it may be a good idea to nuke your app cache or local app storage today or tomorrow so that you aren't using old cached versions of people's profiles. Some clients have issues with this, but not all will.
