Can anybody recommend a Lightning wallet that tracks both the initial and current USD value of a received transaction? For comparative teaching purposes…

Ded 💀😂

Jerome Powell holding a zero dollar bill with Keyne’s face on it. 😂 Enjoy.

My first attempt at a meme. I’ll drop the hi res image without text in the comments for anybody to use.

I have never taken psychedelics, but I did quit my job, sell my house, and throw down on reality with all I had for multiple years. At one point, after coming back from a three month hike, the first television I watched was a Bitcoin documentary. I wouldn’t have been able to see Bitcoin for what it was without first scraping as much garbage out of my head as possible.

Maybe the common thread is an open, curious mind, and a willingness to allow one’s perception to be changed.

nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m I just listened to your podcast with nostr:npub1cn4t4cd78nm900qc2hhqte5aa8c9njm6qkfzw95tszufwcwtcnsq7g3vle and very much appreciated your identification of abstractions being core to the challenges we face as a society. I thought you might like this piece I wrote coming out of the pandemic about the pitfalls of human abstractions (and yes… the diagram is made entirely of Keynote icons. Lol). Coincidentally, I linked to this piece when applying to a job at Strike years ago. :-)

My ultimate dream is to develop a village in the global south that teaches skills in permaculture, natural building, classical economics, and Bitcoin. The hero’s journey for me is untangling from the abstraction. Anyway, if you find the time to read it, I hope you enjoy it. :-)

I’m taking a summer class in economics that is a lot more demanding than I anticipated. Takeaway from that is that Keynes definitely sux. A lot of progress has been made toward converting the app to NextJS and migrating the data to Postgres so it is usable (no small feat). I’ve conceived of a direction for the app that I think the community will love, which I want to run by you and nostr:npub148ut8u4vr8xqd4gefhg6eyc5636p5zthw3zfse2njfkezegczers59ty0w for feedback when I get closer to being able to do substantive dev. I will start rolling out some badges and a leader board in the meantime though. Hope all is well with you frens!

😬 Yeesh. A bit ominous…

Are there any fee notification bots floating around nostr yet? Something that’ll send a dm when sat/vB is below a certain level?

Excerpt from my final essay for history of western civ that traces Europe’s March from the 1600’s to modernity. I called it, “The Story of the Guy Who Hitched a Plow to an Ox and Dug a Hole for the Entire World.” 😆

“As Europe grappled with antiquated and failing systems of governance, the Industrial Revolution steadily separated people from the land and put them to work in factories amid grueling conditions adding to the tensions developing between the people and those with the power to govern. This separation from the land created a crucial, often unnoticed dependence on financial systems as the primary means for satisfying one’s basic needs. In time it would become rare for a family to grow their own food and build their own house. Rather families would come to rely on employment and a complex system of functioning intermediaries (colloquially known as “the economy”) for their primary means of sustenance. Rather than physical territory, money itself would become the new realm of power, and those with the power to print it - the new global monarchs. Today, bureaucracies are the bedrock of human life, rather than actual bedrock. Nature has bowed and debt has enslaved the world.”

If you’re brushing up on JavaScript, I’ve taken one of Andrew Mead’s Udemy courses and liked his teaching style, so I’m betting his modern JavaScript course is good. If you’re going to use React I’d suggest learning Next JS with Vercel or Netlify for hosting. These both make it easy to connect your domain name and deploy your site to the web from GitHub. They will automatically handle things like SSL for you to secure traffic to and from your site. And I’m pretty sure they both offer free plans to get you started.
