Decent analogy. What you’re missing is the real issue of people accepting the asshole has any skills whatsoever and without checking the record of failures.

I have urgent need of a virtual sim or phone service that enables me to have a valid US phone number regardless of geography. "Valid" meaning a phone number that can be used for banking. So, just text/sms, OTP... functionality is more than enough.

My current provider is ending the service imminently (well, they're making me use an app that's not available in Europe).

Can anybody help?

http://silent.link is great, can get texts for verification or data only plans. Also easy to top up with lightning

Nice. I only tried it for 20 minutes maybe. But I was blown away by the high-def 8K video experiences. That alone makes the entire device worth it. But what i understand is that there isn't that many 8K experiences yet.

That’s a good summary of the device overall really. Lots of mind blowing moments but the video and native app content is still lacking.

Can’t help still loving it though, I have a soft spot for anything that makes me feel like I’m in the future

Tons of fun and great preview of the future of computers. However until we get some improvements in weight, battery life, and cost I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone.

It’ll come with time, story was largely the same with the first iPhone

I thought I read you can interact with nests from inside nostr:npub1n0stur7q092gyverzc2wfc00e8egkrdnnqq3alhv7p072u89m5es5mk6h0 but I can’t seem to find the option. Anyone use it that can give some guidance?

If it's permanent, get a big one with low-loss cable. For walking around, I use the Rokland 2.5 dBi 8" antennas. They're tuned really well and the range is probably as good as it's going to get. They're thin and light, so they don't strain that SMA connector. In the end, though, altitude trumps antenna every time.

Hi, I've been tinkering around with Meshtastic nodes and I would recommend going with the types of devices you are looking at. I have been using the Raspberry Pi Pico based nodes and they're super cool, but not super user friendly

I kinda figured as much, I enjoy tinkering with RPi’s but I’d like something more reliable. Also when troubleshooting the only thing I hate more than networking is printers

It's pretty robust. It has some weight to it for sure. The T-Echo is lighter and has a much smaller battery. I don't think either is really pocket-friendly. The WisMesh is easier to rig up to a bag or strap. It's more walkie-talkie shaped.

I found that one very tempting, it seems to have a good size battery. Can’t tell from the pictures but I assume from the name it would be easily pocketable when walking around? Or even clipped with a carabiner would likely be fine
