Everything coming out now about the United States government being so militant towards its own people and it's own economic drivers makes me feel like we aren't that far off from a catastrophic uprising. The American Revolution was fought for much less as were other revolutions since.

The upfront costs of buying a house is insane. You think you're spending X but in reality you are probably paying 5-10k more.

#housing #money #economy

These fees are making me feel like Ordinals and Runes are ruining the original value proposition for #bitcoin. How in the world is the Bitcoin community/nodes allowing this sort of BS and spam? Shouldn't we be rejecting this kind of shitcoinery?

#halving #ordinals #fees

Is it because of the halving and reduced block subsidy? or is it because people are apeing into the network with misc BS to "celebrate" the halving?

If I didn't have so much taken out of my paycheck from taxes, I could easily afford for my wife to stay home on just my income as it stands now. But no, I have to continue funding wars, subsidize others crappy healthcare and politicians that don't care about me rather than take care of my family.

Define "Christian Fascism"... Cause fascism implies use of forcible suppression of opposition, and ultranationalism. If the entire focus is on the Catholic Church, I still want to reinforce that Christianity is very diverse and the Catholic Church is an exceptionally small percentage of global Christianity. Again, ad hominem attacks when we are here having a very non-violent and fairly well meaning debate which is the opposite of fascism.

I completely agree that Catholicism has been filled with corruption and idolatry! We have the Word of God as our main tool! As Christians we are still called to rebuke in love, not hate. We are called to be the light shining on top of a hill, to show the world a brighter and better way! The reformers didn't call out the church out of hate for them, but out of a love for Christ.

I agree, Romans 9, 10, 11 make that fairly clear. It becomes dangerous when it becomes and "us vs them" mentality. Christians should be going to the ends of the earth to preach the Good News about Jesus, not point fingers at people who are being mean. As Paul admonishes Timothy to hold fast to the Gospel that he received from Paul.

It's lazy and doesn't represent Jesus well when we de-emphasize the gospel and the work of the Holy Spirit as the solution in favor of blaming others for the state of things. We have the solution. The Gospel is a caged lion, we just have to let it out and let it do the fighting. We are not victims in Christ. Make the arguments as Paul did to the Athenians. Own the faith. All people are made in the image of God despite the things they say or do. Paul was once an enemy of God. But just as Jesus saved him, He can save any of those who is an "enemy". Love conquers all things.

I've read the Hebrew Bible, brother. If you don't want to address any of my arguments and focus on an ad hominem attack, that's fine. Little ironic that your rebuttal is my precise argument on the leaving out of large amounts of history and context. I'm sorry if you've been hurt by Christians in the past. We don't always get it right and are just as sinful as everyone else... I just pray you can see Jesus for who he is and for who He says he is and not for who sinful Christians portray Him as...

But like... who cares? Luckily, the texts in the New Testament we're written within decades of the death of Jesus and we still have manuscripts from as early as 58 AD, so we can know that the Word of God is true and accurate regardless of the Catholic Church. So who cares about the Catholic Church? We have the Word of God. We can trust in it's durability to show us the Gospel of Jesus throughout generations. Despite any and all corruption, we still had the Reformation to reorient believers back to Scripture. We can try to use labels all day long. We know believers by their fruit and their fruit is of things that direct away from Jesus, then we can be confident in where their allegiances lie. And so what that the Talmud says mean things about Jesus/Mary? Lots of people say and have said mean and nasty things about Jesus. The Bible records nasty things being said about Jesus as he was being led up to be crucified. Like... this isn't breaking news that people don't like Jesus. So Jews don't like Jesus. Yea? Get in line. As Jesus says, dust the sand off your sandle and move on. Even as the world hates faithful followers of Jesus, He says that we should not be surprised because the world hated Him first.

Also a wild take. You're making the same lazy argument but instead of blaming Christians, you're blaming Jews. The apostle Paul teaches us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God but that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. Human nature, regardless of background, is fallen and separated from God. Human nature is that of thinking we can be like God and know better than God but when we do that, bad things happen. Regardless of background.

Tell me you don't understand Jesus without telling me you don't understand Jesus. If you are a Jew believe the story of Christ, then you should even more appreciate his life, teachings, death, and resurrection... Jesus offers more than just a new political or monetary system. Jesus did not come as a conquering Messiah as his own Jewish disciples thought, but as a great high priest and suffering servant to justify us, once and for all before God. Have "Christians" historically created systems that were antithetical to Christ while claiming His name? Yes. 100%. But Jesus is very clear about what the nature of his kingdom is, which is why Rome was not threatened by him and Pilate wanted to let him go. To attribute a "fascist" West to Christianity is lazy and is conveniently leaving out countless variables as to why we got here. Jesus never advocates for violence or force which is inherent in fascist systems and actually reprimands Peter when Peter cuts the ear off of the guard who was trying to arrest him by saying "those who live by the sword, die by the sword." Plus, Christianity spread and was thriving in Africa before it took hold in any meaningful way in Europe. Again, attributing a global and diverse religion to some bad actors throughout a few centuries in the dark ages, while conveniently leaving out 2 thousand years of western history of dozens of individual nations with their own unique histories is lazy. Even if you want to argue against the evils of the modern Vatican, it is still intellectually dishonest to attribute it to the whole of Christianity when there have been centuries (see the Reformation) at this point of Christians who have died at the hand of the Vatican to preach against it's practices.

It should be fairly obvious to see who the genuine Christians are and who the partisan hacks are. Don't get caught up in the quarrels of this world

Trying to buy a house right now and it makes me realize how fucked the housing market is. Bidding wars on a very limited inventory, with rates north of 6.5%, all while wages haven't caught up with the inflation the housing market has seen. My in-laws are seeing many good, single family homes in their neighborhood get bought up by hedge funds to rent. How is this affordable for anyone? How is this sustainable? If there's a catalyst for a revolution, this housing crisis would not surprise me in the least. I don't even live in a traditionally expensive market either.

💯! The priests and Pilate are cowardly and false! We are all the priests. We are all Pilate. We are all Peter who denied Jesus 3 times. Praise Jesus that despite our sin, He STILL died for us.

‭John 21:25 ESV‬

[25] Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.

I understand frustration. But take heart that God is not a god of secrecy. He wishes to be known and He can be fully known in His son and in His word. We can have faith that even in the areas where we don't know, He knows. And in Jesus, we can look forward to the day when He can tell us those stories face-to-face. Jesus doesn't want us to be angry. Look to Jesus' example in the garden when Peter cut off the ear of the guard coming to arrest him!

Something to remember on this Good Friday, brother ❤️🙏

Follow-up on my piece 👇 on the killing of Jesus:

The biblical texts referring to Jesus lashing the money changers, overthrowing their tables and driving them out of the temple court in Jerusalem a few days before he was arrested and killed, don't mention at all that the temple was much more than a religious building.

The texts don't mention that the temple also was the largest and most powerful bank in the region.

Neither do they mention that Pontius Pilate most certainly taxed the profits that the high priests made from deposits, loans and money changing.

Therefore, the story about Jesus chasing away the money changers lacks important context.

Directly after his arrest, the high priests held a meeting where they interrogated Jesus, before they led him to Pilate.

The high priests took Jesus to Pilate and asked him to execute the rebel.

According to the gospel of Luke, they said to Pilate:

"He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Messiah, a king.”

It seems likely that "taxes to Caesar" referred to taxes on the temple's banking business, which were paid by the high priests to Pilate on behalf of the Roman empire, and which Jesus directly or indirectly had objected against when he created the ruckus in the temple yard.

However, when Pilate went on to examine Jesus, he didn't mention the subject of taxes at all.

The scriptures also make it seem like Pilate was reluctant to the proposed execution of Jesus.

All of this seems very odd to me.

I suspect that it throughout history has been a great deal of politically motivated editing of these texts.

I believe that the motive for this censorship has been to steer clear of the fact that political control over religion, especially when it comes to the the monotheistic religions of Judaism and Christianity, goes hand in hand with political control of the monetary system.

It's an unholy marriage that stretches a long way back in time, long before Jesus lived.

He demonstrated against this sinful arrangement and was punished accordingly.

And instead of focusing on the evil profiteering of the state and the high priests, today's narrative seems to me to focus a whole lot on Judas the betrayer, who became a useful fall guy.

It's disgusting.

I have no other word for it.

We shouldn't be kept in the dark about these things.

The Gospel according to John provides an interesting account:

‭John 18:33-38 ESV‬

[33] So Pilate entered his headquarters again and called Jesus and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” [34] Jesus answered, “Do you say this of your own accord, or did others say it to you about me?” [35] Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you over to me. What have you done?” [36] Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.” [37] Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” [38] Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” After he had said this, he went back outside to the Jews and told them, “I find no guilt in him.

Jesus was not concerned with worldly power. He was concerned with ushering in the Kingdom of God. Remember, Satan promised Jesus the world as He was being tempted in the wilderness. Jesus addresses the Sanhedrin as they are accusing him prior to Pilots to bring forth any accusations of anything that He said were false and they were unable to. The Pharasees are merely trying to appeal to Roman brutality in order to get Rome to kill Jesus.
