Finally running with (seemingly inevitably) the help of AI. Drive now running on external power but still needed to correct a bunch of things with the setup (mostly related to electrs, which is some way on from the version last catered for in the Bolt instructions). Back to smooth running (just as a BTC node, lightning bits stripped out).
The tension between assertions that we are close to a golden age with the end of aging due to our technical prowess, and the fact that the globalist technocracy just tried to murder vast swathes of the global population and continues to pursue new and imaginative ways to cull the herd is hard to reconcile.
Love the chaos. Don’t want to think about the silence at the end of it.
On a ferry, remembering the year when Transport Canada changed the regs so passengers could stay in a below-decks car hold, as drowning en masse in a steel coffin was preferable to catching a cold.
72hr fast completed (first one).
No challenges with hunger. Tinnitus curiously worse, and a migraine on day two. Outside of my head, body felt good.
It’s amazing how much of our (well, my) day is normally consumed by food. Planning it. Buying it. Cooking it. Eating it. Cleaning up. Family of four, it’s near constant. Lunch boxes. Endless snacks. Etc. Weird to not be on that merry-go-round (I was away from home, the only time this is remotely practical!).
SSH session won’t open at all. Works ok for the first little while. I don’t think it’s an overheat problem, passive case but temps have been fine. I might just have to plug a keyboard and mouse into it and go direct to diagnose.
Good pointer on the power, I can try powering the SSD direct.
No lightening balances to worry about, cleaned that out before last reinstall.
Thanks. It’s a https://raspibolt.org/ install and it’s a 4. Was working just fine for a couple of years but recently swapped out a 1Tb for a 2Tb due to chain growth and rebuilt from scratch.
So my Pi is taking months to sync now after a rebuild, not sure it’s ever going to finish as I can only ssh into the thing for an hour or so after a reboot before it locks up. Start9 boxes are out of stock (and I would need a Canadian distributor anyway as not dealing with the border for shipping).
Best open source alternative? Paranoid about recent chipsets with their built-in back-doors, but any thoughts welcome.
Andor strong in conclusion, but over-rated for the first half of both seasons.
Under-rated: Skeleton Crew. Kids loved it. Good quality production, writing, and casting.
Going cast iron this year has been a revelation. So happy with my extensively seasoned, unchemical’d cookware.
I recall some theorizing about sats powering the spam-free communication world. How do we apply that to this current nonsense on #nostr? A one-sat fee for every post would stop the carefree operation of bots spamming hundreds of thousands of messages. Fees pooled and distributed to node-runners?
Five year-old vocab today (lots of cyclists out in the sunshine):
“Look another bike-el-ist!”
I mean, it’s logical.
I guess I’ll come back in a week and see if it’s calmed down.
Welcome!
Depressing in its predictability, isn’t it.
Was not previously aware an AppleTV could multi-task. Discovered with five year-old this AM that we can have Tidal running behind Angry Birds.
Presently splatting green pigs to Glass Beams.
I’m sure this is nothing to be concerned about. https://techcrunch.com/2025/05/22/anthropics-new-ai-model-turns-to-blackmail-when-engineers-try-to-take-it-offline/
Quite. The path to more human-like behaviour is not, alas, paved with glory.
No kidding. At least he seems finally to have persuaded Chamath on the forehead-slappingly obvious merits of nuclear.
Very true. Nice to hear the All In Pod addressing this (last 10 mins from 1:23). #energy
Premier League season draws to a close (finally - FA Cup and Playoff Final should def be the marquee events when season is done rather than the other way around). Rollercoaster. Look forward to next season in the Championship, #itfc #sportstr
Canada set to borrow more this coming year than during the 2020 COVID fiasco (Desjardins).
