Update:

I messed with the .env and updated the local domain. now the web socket connects to wss://notes..org/relay, which should work ok for what I need right now without messing with the Wordpress install I have at http://.org. I connected to the relay with my client and successfully posted to the relay.

I guess my question now is whether there is any way to take off the “/relay” at the end of the wss url.

45k workers at 36 ports from the international longshoremens association are striking because negotiations with the employers over wage increases and job automation broke down.

Thanks for responding!

The install guide is well written, thanks for sharing. I got the SSL certificate and am able to access the main ditto page at the URL I set in the nginx config server block (https://notes..org) but am getting the error “websocket connection to wss://.org/relay failed” in the browser console and a blank ditto timeline when I visit it.

It seems to be trying to connect to wss:///relay, when I want it to connect to wss://notes..org. The main domain https://.org leads to a separate Wordpress blog on bluehost, so I imagine that’s why it’s not able to connect to wss://.org/relay. I created the notes..org subdomain to use just for this.

I think my question is how can I update the url that ditto uses for the wss connection to match the one I set in the nginx config ? (I want it to use wss://notes..org NOT wss://.org/relay)

You could DM me a response or comment back on here. Let me know if I wasn’t clear. I’m using a vps on digital ocean.
