Mad skillz. She lucky af.
Dragon knows his stuff...

All of my money has been in Bitcoin for a long time. I still sometimes work for cash, & I use cashapp to covert Bitcoin to dollars for groceries & things, but my dollar holdings are rarely more than a few hundred dollars & I often make the conversion in the parking lot before I go in the store.

From what I understand, all connections are made using the DHT. It works like BitTorrent, there is no central server.
Keet & how well it is working, I said hey to my nephew, we found a couple little bugs (volume control & mute button issues) and probably some other random shit about Bitcoin & Nostr & how to better explain one idea or another to people. Same as most days, just with video & encryption today.
Truly didn't mean for anything to sound particularly hostile, sorry if the last bit came off that way. Difficult to communicate tone via text. Just kinda poking fun π
Just random talk & testing keet. Not a podcast, sorry π
The FUD used to be that Tether was gonna blow up because they were a scam. Then they were targeted by govt because govt doesn't like people creating ways to move dollars that they can't control... Now they are the people who cooperated with investigators or some shit... It's a centralized service that makes it easier to move the ultimate shitcoin outside of the banking system. You don't have to like it or use it to recognize that there might be a reason to want it to exist & a subsection of the global exchange market that is served by such a thing.
Tether is very conservatively managed and they are big enough that they make lots of revenue from the interest on their holdings.
They are using the money to fund the creation of a p2p ecosystem that will make information impossible to censor, & create the sort of media environment that bittorrent should have created. At some point, Bitcoin & Tether will be integrated so that p2p transactions can seamlessly accompany p2p communications.
Building a modular & decentralized web stack is not a simple process so the software itself isn't going to be extremely simple. Is the internet simple? Is Lightning simple? And are you really gonna try to hold decent marketing against them? Not that I have any particular problem with being a "Nostrich" but Keet is a far better name, with a far cleaner logo. Don't hate on shit because it lacks the level of autism you are used to.
Just had an hour long, serverless, encrypted, low latency video call on mobile with nostr:npub1h8nk2346qezka5cpm8jjh3yl5j88pf4ly2ptu7s6uu55wcfqy0wq36rpev over #Keet π₯π₯π₯
We are a trading species.

So what would you do if your centralized service was targeted by the govt?
Personally, I'd start building ways to decentralize everything else so that targeting me would ultimately do them no good π€·ββ
But pear is open now & that is what uses holepunch & hypercore. Keet apk is coming with the next major release.
Pear runtime is now open, Keet apk is coming, supposedly with the next major update. It's pretty clear from the way it operates that it's truly p2p tho. If I'm not online things don't propagate. I have to leave an instance running at home to seed my rooms. And everything tends to work better when there are more peers. But blind forwarding is also on the way, so media should propagate more reliably when that hits.
I think I remember that nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft has used holepunch for some of his experiments, what I remember from him is that it's all not very stable. We tried using keet for gossip dev meetings but it failed many times to get us all in one chat.
How long ago?
